1John.4:6 We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn't listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
Each of us have a spirit our spirit is in our flesh, and it is projected to others, rather we understand that or not? If we are angry, or loving, or sneaky those traits are projected to others even if we don't say a word. Words are used to confirm or deny those traits, but it does not change those traits it only helps to hid them or deny them!
Proverbs 28:13 He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Proverbs 12:20 Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but joy comes to the promoters of peace.
Most of us would like to think were good readers of the spirit, and we well may be of peoples fleshly spirit, we could very will be a Doctor of the flesh reading it every movement by the words we use to expose it. Religious people are often good at reading the weaknesses of the flesh in others. If you drive a stake in ones flesh by a commandments the weaknesses in the flesh will certainly follow!
Matt.7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. 7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? 7:4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye? 7:5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.
But that's not what the apostle John is driving at here in the verses above. The anointed children of God are not doctors of the flesh (their flesh is dead in Christ), they are however, ambassadors of the Spirit. It is their job to trust the Spirit and test all others spirits so they are not mislead (They are not in a war with flesh and blood). They are not a police force to check the flesh in others, to judge the flesh of others, and/or extract the flesh out of their brothers eye.
2Cor. 3:3 being revealed that you are a letter of Christ, served by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh. 3:4 Such confidence we have through Christ toward God; 3:5 not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God; 3:6 who also made us sufficient as servants of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be. 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.
The question is what rights are given them by God's Spirit? Do they have the right to get into peoples business, to make them obey the Spirit? Do they understand by the Spirit that it is a very fine line between giving and taking something we have no right to? It hard not to be enslaved to something on this earth. It is doubly hard for one of God's anointed not to be enslave to something or someone because they are the center of powerful wicked spirit force in heavenly places that control our earth.
Galatians 5:13 For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don't use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.
1Cor. 10:23 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are profitable. "All things are lawful for me," but not all things build up. 10:24 Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor's good.
Testing the spirits does not mean controlling them as most religion teach through some doctrinal application they can peal off a religious argument. The spirit of the religious argument is of the flesh, and not God's Spirit and if a person has God's Spirit they would know that and shake the dust off their feet so they do not lose the peace of God's Spirit they use to build up their most holy faith.
1 Corinthians 2:10 But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
It one thing to defend our faith, then it is looking for a fight to change others. One is a defensive move when challenge, and the other an offensive move to attack our opponent.
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we don't wage war according to the flesh; 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds,
The spirit of the flesh is full of jealously that attacks others for envy, because it wants retribution. It sees the flesh, hates the flaw in the flesh and attacks the flesh to humble it. That is not, that is not what John is talking about at all here in testing the spirits!
James 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
The Spirit of God is full of good gifts of love, generosity, forgiveness and kindness. When we don't have that Spirit but another spirit lacking the good things of God that spirit is not of God. The good things of God does not attack the bad things of the spirit coming from our flesh, it not even attacking Satan. Have you noted, it just leaves in peace. It hard to hanging onto Spirit of God when we have it confused with all these other evil spirits thinking some of its good and some of its bad?
James.1:16 Don't be deceived, my beloved brothers. 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. 1:18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
James. 4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask. 4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.
There is no in between, some light, and little darkness, which is the message of John letter. Christ own message on earth was even clearer? He stated a good tree (God) cannot bear bad fruit, and corrupt tree not of God cannot bear good fruit (that is of God)
Matt. 7:17 Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. 7:18 A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.
Same message said in different ways from Christ and John, light cannot dwell with darkness, so that can't be God's Spirit eventhough its using words from God's word the bible. The Spirit of truth residing in us, that is, the Spirit of God's love does not dwell, cannot listen to the evil of the spirits of our sinful flesh, now can it?
James.3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.
No! If we are in the Spirit they can't even understand our words coming from the Spirit of God, they can't hear us because darkness and light does not dwell with darkness, where is the debate in that? There is none, not unless we are a doctor of flesh which knows that to make the flesh listen requires great discipline and humiliation by taking it to the ground with words or physical combated defeating its pride.
Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law, worked in our members to bring forth fruit to death.
Romans 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.
Yes, the power of government, the power of religion the lover of the flesh that boast in creating a better flesh upon earth, but not the Spirit of God. God is done with our flesh, finished, he does not mix light into darkness, he killed it in Christ. Christ took the nails in his hands and feet and he did not squirm to get out of our discipline. We know the truth it dwells in us the Spirit, let us not mock the truth because we can't stop squirming in our flesh, let us not call good evil, or evil good rather let us know the truth from the lie.
Let us be humble knowing our salvation is not with us, it is reserved in heaven, in the light, please Lord give us he wisdom to walk in your light.
Ps.90:8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. 90:9 For all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh. 90:10 The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away. 90:11 Who knows the power of your anger, your wrath according to the fear that is due to you? 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
