Daily Bible Thought > 1Cor.2:9 But as it is written, "Things which an eye didn't see, and an ear didn't hear, which didn't enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him."{Isaiah 64:4}
1Cor.2:9 But as it is written, "Things which an eye didn't see, and an ear didn't hear, which didn't enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him."{Isaiah 64:4}
So many of us want to know God so we set out to come to know all we can about Him. First, we research, we admire those with a deep knowledge of God, and then over the years we find how little we really know about God.
John.5:39 "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. 5:40 Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life. 5:41 I don't receive glory from men.
However, the first and last step to God is Him revealing himself to us, and that is the key to knowing God, it is that we love him. Love; God’s love reveal all things to those loving God. But sadly, knowledge of God, is not love for God or is it God’s love.
1 Corinthians 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don't have love, I am nothing.
Knowledge can be very deceptive, you see, knowledge set us on a course, a predetermine course we may not even realize. It is a course from our own heart, and mind from the things that has deeply affected us emotionally in this life. We filter those things of God’s word, or even book written about God to fit into our comfort zone building God’s personality like a puzzle piece at a time into our picture of who God is.
1 Corinthians 8:1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
Not realizing that we are even doing so, we identify God with us, and that is why when we read something from our bibles it makes a profound affect on us, and someone else reads it and they have an exact opposite reactions all together.
2 Timothy 3:7 always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth
But we are missing the fundamental truth of all the scriptures; God must reveal himself to us, not the other way around. You see, a very small book can be written and down the road after a hundred years or lest of debates that same book can have libraries full of explanations about it all from a small book with very few words.
Ecclesiastes 12:12 Furthermore, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
And this is why God must reveal himself to us personally by his Spirit. God is a Spirit so he creates from his Spirit and he educates us from his Spirit, but the key is we love him more than we love ourselves in trying to have God agree with us from his word the bible. Love let us first trust God, love removes doubt that God is out to get us, and/or trick us.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:8 He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love.
Perfect love puts fear outside, it says God can do no harm in his love, such thoughts do not enter into a God of love, but knowledge alone can and does just the opposite, it makes us the judge of what is love and what love isn’t. But in God who is love one never doubts that God’s love is perfect, and in his love there is no evil. However, lets be clear here very few of us will ever come to know God by love.
James.1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
We are not saying God’s love does not desire all us to know him by love, but the truth is very few of us find that road in a world that defines God by human love. Love to this world means, if it can’t be bought and sold, or earned, it a very weak thing. However, the love of God is also the wisdom of God, and God’s wisdom is foolishness to this world, and that is why the road to God is very small and cramped and few every find it.
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to me, and doesn't hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can't be my disciple.
Luke 8:21 But he answered them, "My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God, and do it.
Matthew 7:14 How{TR reads "Because" instead of "How"} narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it.
