To him who knocks it will be opened. 7:8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. 7:9 Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 7:10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Context is everything and nothing could be truer than in God’s word the bible. All of us have experience our words taken out of context or something we’ve done, putting us in a bad light. If its important for us human’s to be put into proper context, a creation of God, than it is ultimately important we put Christ words and God’s into proper context.
Above is just such verses often taken out of context by Christian’s and religion.
The statement of Christ above cannot apply to those born again into Christ, but why?
Number (1) they are “in Christ” they are not seeking Christ they are his body members!
Number (2) They have received the kingdom which cannot be shaken by being “in Christ” as his body members, they cannot seek again what God has already given them!
Heb.12:28 Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can't be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe, 12:29 for our God is a consuming fire.{Deuteronomy 4:24}
Colossians 1:13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love;
Number (3) All things are God’s children, that is, every other body member who are in Christ and Christ belongs too God. In other words, if you are a toe on a body everything in that body is also yours. Christ belongs to God, and we belong to Christ “all things” have been given us concerning Christ we can’t seek a greater Christ now can we?
1Cor3:21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 3:22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours, 3:23 and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.
CONTEXT OF CHRIST WORDS ABOVE.
Christ came to fulfill the law, Christ was under the law while on earth in his flesh. Subsequently, the words above regarding seeking the kingdom, and asking under the old law are perfectly accurate.
Once Christ died for our sins under the old law, he fulfilled the law by his precious blood, finishing, setting aside the old law contract as prescribed by God.
Galatians 2:21 I don't make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!"
Galatians 3:2 I just want to learn this from you. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"{Deuteronomy 21:23}
After Christ resurrection was proof that a new contract had been signed by God, the new covenant. The seal of truth was the outpouring of Holy Spirit.
By the out pouring of Holy Spirit birthed all those once in their flesh, were born new into Christ a spirit being. This rebirth was into Christ the temple and the kingdom of God. What had been in the flesh, was put to death in Christ as new spirit kingdom, and new son’s of God that worshiped in Spirit and truth.
Hebrews 10:20 by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Hebrews 12:24 to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant,{Jeremiah 31:31} and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.
Ephesians 4:24 and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.
Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
They could not receive more than Christ they had received the promise all those before them under the old law sought the kingdom of God. They entered into kingdom of God not by man’s will of his flesh, but by the will of God, by the power of God’s Spirit!
John. 1:12 But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name: 1:13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
RESTING FROM WORKS OF OUR FLESH Rom. 10:4 For Christ is the fulfillment{or, completion, or end} of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. 10:5 For Moses writes about the righteousness of the law, "The one who does them will live by them."{Leviticus 18:5}
The key to entering into God rest day, God’s rest day is Christ Jesus who is God’s great Sabbath day. We must have faith all things in Christ is ours that we have received his kingdom, and that we are dead to this world. That is our flesh is dead in Christ.
Heb. 4:9 There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 4:10 For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
Luke 6:5 He said to them, "The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath."
Thus, our constantly seeking and asking for what we already have been given freely is a lack of faith in God assured promises. We must stop the fears of our flesh, by resting in the truth, the truth is Christ Jesus and trust with our whole heart in faith all things in Christ is ours.
John 3:27 John answered, "A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven.
Few of us have that type of faith, most push ahead insisting on knocking and seeking is a divine mandate from Christ making our flesh do works to find the truth.
Isaiah 28:12 to whom he said, "This is the resting place. Give rest to weary;" and "This is the refreshing;" yet they would not hear.
Isaiah 30:15 For thus said the Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, "You will be saved in returning and rest. Your strength will be in quietness and in confidence." You refused.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.
Constantly, begging God to give us more insight, more understanding of his word, more education about him and Christ. Chasing what we want and think will help us has nothing to do with being under Christ headship, and listening to the Spirit in his body, that is, the congregation of God.
If an eye must beg for the food of the body freely given to it, and to all members than the eye is no part of our body. If one is in their flesh they don’t belong to Christ, so beg they must for fears of their flesh they aren’t doing enough!
An eye does not beg, a toe does not beg it rest in the power of the life of the body. And that is what is called by God unmerited kindness.
In other words, the eye did not have merit so God placed it into the body. No! The eye was created by God for the body, and such is true for all members.
Romans 3:28 We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
Romans 4:2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not toward God.
Romans 4:4 Now to him who works, the reward is not counted as grace, but as debt.
Romans 4:6 Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,
Nothing happens good for the body of Christ unless its members rest in faith in God’s promises too them! No body member created anything in the body. No! Each member was created by God for the body, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is the will of God that caused a new creation to be birth into the spirit body of God.
Romans 9:32 Why? Because they didn't seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.
Galatians 2:16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.
Galatians 3:2 I just want to learn this from you. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
Galatians 3:5 He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you, and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
Ephesians 2:9 not of works, that no one would boast.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
