***Matt.12:1 At that time, Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the grain fields. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 12:2 But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, "Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath."
The Spirit of God terrifies the flesh minded person, it utterances are parable to its ears, babble to the thinking of the fleshly mind, which run in a pattern of thought since sin enter into our world. How could a sacred law of God be broken, without killing the perpetrator of it, how could a man of God break the Sabbath without being evil?
1Tim.1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;
Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.
Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.
This is the fleshly mind, which is elemental to its pattern of its thinking, this is the power for the fleshly mind, which are laws created to punishes sin, the law is good, it is righteous, and it is from God. The fleshly mind knows that much, and it knows every thing against the law is evil, and must be punished or killed, but the fleshly mind does not know the God of love, the God that is only revealed by Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 1:12 To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.
Christ was indwelt with life of God, YHWH, because he was sinless, he was the resting place for God Holy Spirit, and soon upon resurrection of his precious life he would be given instructable life becoming the real temple of God. God is good, everything he has given mankind was, and is a gift of his love, he withheld nothing good from Adam and Eve creating everything for them as gift from his heart.
1 John 4:16 We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.
No laborious laws were placed upon Adam and Eve, for they were not evil, they like Christ were sinless needing no laws for sins of their flesh. From here Christ makes the point, and what is that? He is bring freedom from the judgment of sin, he is bring them into God's rest day, the great Sabbath, where man can stand with the merit of Christ life freed from the judgment of Adam's sin. This is the fulfillment of God's righteous and good law put over Israel which law controlled their lives on the sabbath day of rest, rest from what? Resting from what the sinful flesh does by is inherent nature justifying its self by works of law. God wanted Israel to know they could not justify themselves as a sinner, they could not justify themselves by any of God's laws, least of which was the sabbath day. They must, as we must, be justified by blood provided for us by an innocent victim that does not sin against God's moral laws. No human being under sin can make that statement for sin is against the law. In fact, the power of law is sin; to expose it as wicked against the Spirit of God.
Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.
Galatians 5:13 For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don't use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"}
Romans 8:3 For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;
Christ is the rest day of God for mankind, he is the peace God makes with mankind, and it is his merit by Christ works imputed too us by God's undeserved kindness we can rest in his goodness, and not our own. Now the Pharisee's seem small and void of God's love, they were of the flesh, and they judged by the flesh, fear gripped their heart's when dealing with Spirit in Christ that put their feet upon God's salvation and not human salvation by works of law. All those receiving the Spirit of God must walk in the power of Christ upon the wicked waters of the sinful flesh than never stop churning up the unrighteous mud of badness!
Ephesians 3:17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love.
***Matt.12:3 But he said to them, "Haven't you read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him; 12:4 how he entered into the house of God, and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for those who were with him, but only for the priests?{1 Samuel 21:3-6} 12:5 Or have you not read in the law, that on the Sabbath day, the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are guiltless? 12:6 But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
There is nothing more holy or sacred than God's Sabbath day, when we Christian's judge another as evil and unworthy for breaking some rule of our group, how do we explain Christ words here? Do you understand fundamental truth(s) of God's word, this is not an insult or a trick question?
Heb.6:1 Therefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on to perfection--not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God, 6:2 of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 6:3 This will we do, if God permits.
Once we have a foundation of belief's it almost impossible to remove one of them because the whole house crumbles and falls that is a scare thoughts if we have made our eternal lives dependent upon those foundational stones. Some times we don't want what the scriptures say because it undoes us! Just as these Pharisee's were undone by Christ words above. The Jews kill people at one time for breaking the Sabbath day rest, and now Jesus states examples of ones that broke God's Sabbath and were blessed in doing so?
Exodus 31:14 You shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
Acts of faith in scriptures often break laws, of nature, man, and even God's laws, and yet God blesses some breaking them? Does that mean we are law breakers, no! Christian's must remember God allows us to show our faith beyond all hope of mankind helping us, where we will prove our love for him even if it requires breaking some law of man. Abraham was just such a man God loved, and for what? Offering up his son Isaac upon the altar for God. Yes, murder! God law does not condone murder, nor man's, so where did Abraham go to obey God command to kill his son?
Titus 3:1 Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, 3:2 to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.
Hebrews 10:38 But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."{Habakkuk 2:3-4}
Hebrews 11:17 By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son;
He had nothing but faith, in what? God's love, knowing that God would not have ask if it were not for a good reason. Christ statements above can be understood in faith if we have basic truth(s) and act upon that truth in faith. David, and the priest that profaned the Sabbath understood what many Christ do not? Which these Pharisee's did not comprehend, and what was that? It is faith is in God's gift of salvation for mankind, because mankind could not be holy and clean without blood.
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.
Its that simple, fleshly minded people put all emphasis upon obedience to a law. But God puts all emphasis upon faith, that is, obedience to faith where He himself provides us atonement for salvation. When man set down a road of self-obedience by law he is in death because it is impossible to gain life through obedience by law as a sinner. In other words, the cause of sin in the priest made the Sabbath day profaned, but blood cleansed their works for God allowing them to keep the Sabbath “in rest”. Yes, rest came by way of innocent blood allowing God to rest from his judgment of them.
Exodus 29:21 You shall take of the blood that is on the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron, and on his garments, and on his sons, and on the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be made holy, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him.
Hebrews 13:20 Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus,
1 Peter 1:2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
In other words, do you understand foundational truth? If man cannot keep God's law, all of God's law are violated, not just one. Essential a person is asking a dog to recreated itself into a cat because of some law that says they all should be cats! But the truth is the law does not make the dog a cat. So one must forgive the pet appeasing for its lack of ability to recreate itself by our laws into a cat. Which is called mercy.
Levitius 16:15 "Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.
Now if the dog cannot be a cat by laws than which law within our law matter more? None! The dog broke all of them by not being a cat. It is the dog faith that we love him that matters, we will find away to love and keep the dog, will we not? Salvation does not come from our good works that is a foundation stone we must never lose, we must understand how these ones above understood the truth of their condition so they put faith in the God of love, and broke the Sabbath knowing without God's help they could not be righteous in God's eyes. They understood their entire standing with God was provided for them in his love, in his efforts, and in trusting God knew their heart and by faith they acted upon faith.
James 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."}, when you fall into various temptations, 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 1:4 Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. 1:6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. 1:7 For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. 1:8 He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 1:9 But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
***Matt.12:7 But if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,'{Hosea 6:6} you would not have condemned the guiltless. 12:8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
Many of Christian for some two-thousand's years have thought without flinching they knew what Christ was saying here, but let us not like the Jew whom had God's word for thousand's of years be know-it-all's, for we might just come up short as they did in mercy!
Luke.18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector. 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 18:12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.' 18:13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn't even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Mercy was not executing the law upon others, mercy for Christian's is not making one obey the commandment of God by threat of expulsion from a group, mercy was not found in rule of law, obedience and death of judgment of ones sin is not mercy! Where did God's mercy come from was it perfect obedience or the blood sacrificed upon the altar paying the price for what no human could do, that is, being perfect without sin against God's righteousness?
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. The Jews condemned Christ Jesus the guiltless one, but how could they do that? What judgment did the uses to condemn the Christ? What good was the law without blood, the mercy of the law; could a sinner keep the law, no! It was impossible for a person flawed with sin to keep the law, the law would only created greater sin in those giving power to it by judging others, it could not fix the problem of being born a sinner, as thought judging by the laws cleansed a person from their sins, no!
Romans 7:11 for sin, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Sin was not gotten read of, it was exposed by law, it was not made less it was magnified by law creating a greater awareness of how far we fall short of the being a non-sinner, and/or righteous by our own merit, but where is the mercy found for sinners if they are condemned into death by laws on its every precept? One must find away of salvation if they are dead to God, should they not? If God personality is the law, than where is the God of love, no where!
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.
God provided life, innocent life to show us mercy as great cost himself to redeem us from the everlasting curse of the Law. Are you merciful or a law student of the bible? Do you see the sin in all human's eyes, are you like the Pharisee's empower themselves unrighteously by judgment (fear of punishment), pointing out weakness all sinner have, or do you as a sinner look to mercy the blood given on your behalf freely without your merit?
James.1:20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God. 1:21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls{or, preserve your life.}. 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; 1:24 for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. 1:26 If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn't bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man's religion is worthless.
How does laws judgment change anyone? Are you a truth lover? If so the law makes people do things upon threat of punishment causing fear, but it does not change the heart. It does not make a person love God, do you know what does? Does human personality being a great teacher change people, it can, but does it make a person a lover of God, some would say yes! However, it does not for when the person no longer has the person to look to by sight and sound they will not remember God, but they will look for another human or an organization where it can direct their lives by sight seen human instruction.
1Cor.3:1 Brothers, I couldn't speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly, as to babies in Christ. 3:2 I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you weren't yet ready. Indeed, not even now are you ready, 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren't you fleshly, and don't you walk in the ways of men? 3:4 For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," aren't you fleshly? 3:5 Who then is Apollos, and who is Paul, but servants through whom you believed; and each as the Lord gave to him? 3:6 I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase. 3:7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
God's love is shown in forgiveness, by his paying the price for our deserved sins we cannot redeem ourselves from, not in commandments, and rule that makes a person fear God as evil paying us back in keep account of injury we have done to him. If the Jews had learn this, God's of love, whom was forgiving their deserved death by disobeying to his law, for if one does not obey perfectly they are dead to God as Adam became dead to God having no association with him by his life giving words upon sin entering into him, and his wife by choice. They would not have condemned and killed the guiltless one!
Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn't open his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is mute, so he didn't open his mouth.
1 Peter 2:25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer{"Overseer" is from the Greek episkopon, which can mean overseer, curator, guardian, or superintendent.} of your souls.
Blood accounts sin dead to God, not held legal over ones head, it was not an obligation like meeting some rule of law mankind makes, but an act of love on God part by his compassion and love for fallen mankind to provide them mercy by killing the life of an innocent victim to pay the price for our life.
Ephesians 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us.
Ephesians 5:2 Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
2 Thessalonians 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace.
1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice{"atoning sacrifice" is from the Greek "hilasmos," an appeasing, propitiating, or the means of appeasement or propitiation--the sacrifice that turns away God's wrath because of our sin.} for our sins.
*** Matt.12:9 He departed there, and went into their synagogue. 12:10 And behold there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?" that they might accuse him. 12:11 He said to them, "What man is there among you, who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won't he grab on to it, and lift it out? 12:12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day." 12:13 Then he told the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.
What is the purpose of God's Sabbath? Man labors all the days of his life, in Israel one day out of the work week God made a day of rest, a day of worship, a day of good works in sharing the blessings of God each one with his neighbor. God made a law that one must not do certain things on the Sabbath day of rest such as work for themselves. This was God's day, one day out of a person life to reflect upon things of God had done, such as faith that God would take care of his peoples needs. To reflect upon God's past acts towards his people, a day to remember and worship in thanks giving towards God.
Matthew 23:26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.
But what happens when the rule of law becomes greater than the reason God gave Israel the Sabbath for in the first place, evil! Here Christ Jesus the Son of God healed a man with a withered hand, and these false teachers put the rule of law over the good Christ did for God on his day of rest from their work, condemning the man and Christ as promoting law breaking on the Sabbath.
3 John 1:11 Beloved, don't imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He who does good is of God. He who does evil hasn't seen God.
1 John 3:12 unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
2 Peter 2:10 but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries;
Today in a world far removed from Israel Sabbath day, we have religion promoting certain days to fill the churches for profit in legislating judgment for those not keeping the so called Sabbath day of rest. Much like these self-righteous teachers of God's law the Pharisee's they use God's word for their own works in running a business in the name of religion.
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
John 2:15 He made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers' money, and overthrew their tables. Christ the one doing this good work for God, how do we know this work was from God? Christ was full of light, he was indwelt with the life of this Father YHWH, he did nothing of his own originality, what came through him was God's work simply because he did not do his own works. However, here is the point false religion makes in understanding the temporary picture of the Great Sabbath of God, and what was that? God rest towards mankind, that is, his judgment can be set aside by only one thing only that one thing these Jews should have been mediating upon under the physical Sabbath day in Israel, was what?
Ezekiel 46:12 When the prince shall prepare a freewill offering, a burnt offering or peace offerings as a freewill offering to Yahweh, one shall open for him the gate that looks toward the east; and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he does on the Sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth one shall shut the gate.
Blood! Yes, rest with God is found in the blood of an innocent victim pour out upon the altar atoning for sin against God. In other words, to stop God's wrath or judgment of us; blood has to atone for our sins, God is not at peace with law breakers, or is he at peace with sinners justifying themselves by keeping some rule of law, claiming such is greater than the innocent blood spell upon the altar.
Matthew 26:28 for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.
Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.
Christ after dying for us Christian's would bring us into God rest day, removing our judgments by God's righteous laws, once for all times. Those cleansed from the blood of Christ must rest from their works, and what works would that be? Justification of themselves by claiming they have made themselves righteous by a good work they were doing for God. They must be made righteous for God, and rest from their works of law. The word works of law is very confusing to most of us, we think of only the Pharisee's and some time Israel God's people proving themselves righteous by commandments. However, being self-righteous can come from wearing certain clothing, the type of work we do, the color of our hair, the religion we go to and so on . . .
Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?"
Ecclesiastes 9:2 All things come alike to all. There is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good, to the clean, to the unclean, to him who sacrifices, and to him who doesn't sacrifice. As is the good, so is the sinner; he who takes an oath, as he who fears an oath.
In other words, we can be self-righteous by anything under the Sun making ourselves an idolater if we chose to make ourselves better than innocent blood God provides for us in Christ Jesus, why the blood? The question should be why must we understand the Sabbath rest day, because if we answer that question we will get the answer for the other?
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in eating, or in drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day.
Rom.8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"} 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. 8:3 For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.
Sin, there is no human born on earth that does not sin, we are then i found in a dark hole dying with no way up. We are is judged dead in God's eyes, and we cannot rest in proving our worthy by some redemption coming from our works. That is, our education, wealth, looks, our jokes, what ever makes us acceptable to other humans so we are accepted by them into their world. The Sabbath day of God is not about man's acceptance to other humans, its is about God's giving us acceptance by the price he paid for us, the perfect precious life of His Son Christ Jesus.
The blood of Christ God rest from his judgment of us, once for all times, we are than to rest from our justifying ourselves constantly as good enough and accept in faith what God says we are by Christ merit given us freely from His love. If we as a Christian's do not believe there is such power in the blood of Christ to set aside our deserved judgment and we self-medicate by self-justification by our works we are doing for God, thinking it makes us clean, that is, more acceptable than the blood of Christ we will be condemned like these Pharisee's declaring the rule of law judging human flesh as greater than the gift on God's altar the righteousness of Christ, and the good works he does through those justified in faith of his blood, that is a huge unfortunate mistake for anyone claiming to love God! Let us be watchful and careful how you judge that we not be judged?
John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;
Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.
Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.
Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
***Matt.12:14 But the Pharisees went out, and conspired against him, how they might destroy him. 12:15 Jesus, perceiving that, withdrew from there. Great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all, 12:16 and commanded them that they should not make him known: 12:17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, 12:18 "Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit on him. He will proclaim justice to the nations. 12:19 He will not strive, nor shout; neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
Let us start with fundamental truth always, which is, what is the condition of us as sinners? If we can figure that out, we will than see ourselves in relationship to God. We will not take ourselves so seriously, moreover, we will learn there are some things we cannot fix as sinners letting us allow God to do his work in us. Here we see the systemic nature of sin in all of us, and what is that? The Jewish teacher were jealous of Christ gaining followers, which should not surprise us because we all sin, and we all have a spirit of flesh that longs to envy which we must war against.
James 4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask. 4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"?
But Christ on the other hand, had a different Spirit in him, one that did not strive with flesh, and/or others out of fear of losing! Yes, Christ had the Spirit of God in him that does not live in fear of losing control of some possession like the Jewish teachers did here. Christ was not going to destroy a spiritual life for fear all sin has in human. Fearing his words would not be heard and some would perish, or his numbers would look bad to other religions.
John 10:26 But you don't believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I told you. 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 10:28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 10:29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand.
Christ knew what many Christian's don't today, and what is that? That God is more concern with salvation than sinful flesh could every imagine. Not one hair of a person head the heavenly Father does not know, or takes concern with. At God's command billions of powerful angles are conducting work for him, so not one person seeking God will be handed a serpent, and perish. But like these Jews whom warred with flesh out of jealous and anger to make a disciple, traversing seas if necessary for fear of judgment, which is a lack of faith, in God's love, they instead taught flesh creating one more weed disciple, with the same fruit!
Matthew 18:10 See that you don't despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.
Heb.1:13 But which of the angels has he told at any time, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?"{Psalm 110:1} 1:14 Aren't they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
Those wrangling, fighting, and shouting over God, are of the flesh, not of truth and Spirit. They live in fear, and know not the God of love. They contended with flesh, controlling, and defeating it, thinking they are doing the works of God. They put faith in numbers, as all flesh does, they compare themselves against other unrighteous flesh thinking their judgment our God's righteous judgments. They are not motives by love, as Christ was; and what does being motivated by love mean? Does it mean fear of that some other religion is looking better? Does it mean that someone we don't like gets more disciples? Is that the Spirit of God?
Hebrews 13:6 So that with good courage we say, "The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?"{Psalm 118:6-7}
2 Timothy 1:7 For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
No! Love is not motivated at all by fear, it is proven in faith, that is, trusting God is not wicked like sinful human are. It is motivated by complete trust that God will uses a person to do his will, out of His love for us, even if they did not wanted too. It is trust God loves mankind because he created them and will not fail in his love for them. It is trust that we are saved by him, not that we save him by our great work!
Romans 8:15 For you didn't receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba{Abba is an Aramaic word for father or daddy, often used affectionately and respectfully in prayer to our Father in heaven.}! Father!"
James 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth. 3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
***Matt.12:20 He won't break a bruised reed. He won't quench a smoking flax, until he leads justice to victory. 12:21 In his name, the nations will hope."{Isaiah 42:1-4}
Each of us on earth for what ever time we have in our flesh have a choice to be truthful, or dishonest with ourselves and others. Truth is the hardest course one can take in this life. Here we read of Christ about his goodness in Kingship. Yet, where is that kindness to the nations? Where has not each generation since Christ was upon this earth not been violent, destroying life, breaking, crushing, and bruising the lowly ones, the little ones?
Ezekiel 7:25 Destruction comes; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.
Ezekiel 13:10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there is no peace; and when one builds up a wall, behold, they daub it with whitewash:
Has Christ been the hope of the nations? When nations raise against nations in patriotism destroying each other in the name of God and Christ? Is this the hope of all nations to live in war, and/or the constant fear of destruction? Is this the hope we are to have in Christ? No! It is not! Here we are faced with truth, either Christ is part of unrighteous evil done by nations of our earth or he is not? No matter how hard a person searches through the barn of manure for a horse, the horse has left the barn long ago!
2Cor.4:2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 4:3 Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish; 4:4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.
1 John 5:19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
Christ was never in the barn, he made it emphatically clear his kingdom and his disciples were not part of this world, can we handle this truth or are we like so many the eternal optimist still looking for the horse in God's name? Christ is still no part of this world, his kingdom cannot be shaken, it cannot be corrupted by evil politician in the name of Christ. Christ is not of this world, his kingdom will not be enslaved to the flattery of men seeking self-glory by the uses of force.
Micah.4:1 But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of Yahweh's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it. 4:2 Many nations will go and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths." For out of Zion will go forth the law, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem; 4:3 and he will judge between many peoples, and will decide concerning strong nations afar off. They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war any more. 4:4 But they will sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and no one will make them afraid: For the mouth of Yahweh of Armies has spoken. 4:5 Indeed all the nations may walk in the name of their gods; but we will walk in the name of Yahweh our God forever and ever. 4:6 "In that day," says Yahweh, "I will assemble that which is lame, and I will gather that which is driven away, and that which I have afflicted;
John 18:36 Jesus answered, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn't be delivered to the Jews. But now my Kingdom is not from here."
Christ kingdom is yet to come taking by force what is God rightful ownership of his plant earth, and that which he created. When Christ does that, it will not come by human hands we are absolutely guarantee that from God's world. There will be no doubt of Christ coming in rulership, it will not be a mystery to any flesh, the nations will know and every eye will see it! Than the nations will hope, than the there will be no more crushing of the little one; death or outcry of pain anymore. But until than men and woman will dig, and dig in the horse barn looking for one piece of good to build hope upon to establish their desires to maintain a world that crushes the life out of humans. Just as this world killed the life of Christ while upon earth, it has not changed into a better world that now loves and cherish the Christ and his brothers.
Daniel 2:44 In the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 2:45 Because you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God has made known to the king what shall happen hereafter: and the dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.
Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can't be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe.
Revelation 11:15 The seventh angel sounded, and great voices in heaven followed, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ. He will reign forever and ever!"
***Matt.12:22 Then one possessed by a demon, blind and mute, was brought to him and he healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. 12:23 All the multitudes were amazed, and said, "Can this be the son of David?" 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons." 12:25 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 12:26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 12:27 If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 12:28 But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you. 12:29 Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man, and plunder his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? Then he will plunder his house. 12:30 "He who is not with me is against me, and he who doesn't gather with me, scatters. 12:31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 12:32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, neither in this age, nor in that which is to come.
It is one thing not to except a person claims in using God's Holy Spirit by doing some work than to oppose the work trying to stop the person. What were the Jews protecting here just like all governments do? Power, control, position of authority, certainly not the spiritual health of Israel. This cloak of righteousness was merely a ploy to make sure no one took their position as teachers of Israel.
John 5:44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?
John 7:18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
Jesus presented a case that convicts the Pharisee's of evil motives in trying to entrap Christ into sinning against the laws of God. How does one cast out Satan by Satan? And if thats possible, who were their children casting out demon's by? In other words, could a person tell the difference, and shouldn't a teacher of Israel know the difference, and by what means?
Matt.5:37 But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No.' Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
Now if they were to say yes we know the difference, they would be convicted of lying about God's Holy Spirit working through Christ in casting out this demon. But if they were to lie calling it Satan's work they than they had convicted the Holy Spirit of sinning with the Devil. Christ was to give his apostles power to cast out demon in his name. Christ as king of Israel had the authority given him by God YHWH to give his apostles the power in doing powerful works in his name. Later upon the outpouring of Holy Spirit many would receive the power and gifts of Holy Spirit to cast out demons. So much so, we find Christ warning that many would use his name unlawfully to cast out demon, but Christ did not recognize their authority in doing so.
Matt.7:21 Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 7:22 Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?' 7:23 Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'
Christ states a truth that seem a contradiction, one place he implies that Satan cannot cast out his own, or he is divided against himself, his house in divided not united. Than he states many would think they were casting demons out by Christ own name, but he refused to claim those works in his name? What are we to make of this apparent contradiction? Why would Satan promote a lie that ones were casting out demons in Christ name, when he was actually helping them to powerful works?
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.
The answer is found throughout the bible, it is no mystery. Satan stole God's rightful position over mankind by a lie. Satan has stolen everything God has given his people to build his own kingdoms on earth using the power of religion, that is, its moral goodness by righteous law to build his kingdoms. Humans want to please and worship God as they were created in God's image. Satan knows that power and gives a false illusion to those believing the lie in loving this world over faith in God which means in glorifying themselves upon earth like the world.
1Cor.4:3 Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish; 4:4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. 4:5 For we don't preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake;
We must take note that when Christ called these workers of lawlessness into account they stated what all false religion states, and what is that? “Look at the powerful works I have done in your name!” Why is this important? It is important because that is Satan illusion that mislead the nations by false religion which is? If a person does good works, the good works atones for their evil works of sinning. This merit system is what these Jews were on when filing accusation against the Son of God good works, calling good, evil, which is the very tools Satan has always used to deceive humans.
Matt.7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. 7:16 By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? 7:17 Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. 7:18 A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.
Does a good work earn merit with God for the next life? However, Christ said those powerful works were not his good works, but where instead deeds of lawless. He had not been given them power from the kingdom laws to use Christ Jesus name as powerful, so they were without law, that is, lawless!
1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
In other words, these Jews were self-righteous they lived by works of law instead of faith. They judged Christ by works of law, stating he had power from Satan, and he was working in concert with the Devil. Why? Because they could not pass judgment upon good works, which was their own justification used in atoning for their sins. There works that they were doing seemingly gave them standing with God, i.e., merit! In others words, proving to others they had standing with God for honor and power. Which is why they hated Christ he made them look bad by comparing good works, just as Cain did Abel, and all false religion practices!
Genesis 4:5 but he didn't respect Cain and his offering. Cain was very angry, and the expression on his face fell.
Genesis 4:6 Yahweh said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why has the expression of your face fallen?
Genesis 4:8 Cain said to Abel, his brother, "Let's go into the field." It happened when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and killed him.
Those doing God's powerful works has to be accounted sinless, by the power of blood, not by their personal good works. If Christ good works were evil what than did that mean for their children's powerful works done for God, whom did the same good works Christ had performed? Good works were not the standard of God's law, it was first and always atonement so our works could be done for God, never the other way around. Good works by merit is first for our self-glory, not first God's glory by his great mercies. Works done in sin, are lawless, not atone for by blood. So the teachings of these Pharisee's convicted them of self-righteousness by good works, not the proper rule of law by atonement by God's mercy in giving the life of innocent victims so they would not be lawless before God.
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn't love his brother remains in death.
1 John 3:15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.
1 John 3:16 By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
Now if a person is not authorized by God through forgiveness of sin by blood sacrifice than whom are they actually working for? If works are the meter to judge our atonement by, than the Pharisee's are woefully lacking in self-atonement because none of them did the works Christ was performing for God while upon earth. On all accounts they convicted themselves with the charged of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit!
Moreover, what of a man that never did a good work for God, but put faith in Christ Jesus, is their hope of eternal life for such a one? So those Christian's judging and comparing themselves before flesh and blood by boasting in their works, must ask: “have I done enough good works to buy my way into paradise?” Or are they like the thief on stake/cross who puts faith in Christ good works, as having the merit to redeem him, when asking Christ to remember him when he gets into his kingdom?
John 10:1 "Most certainly, I tell you, one who doesn't enter by the door into the sheep fold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
Luke.WS." 23:39 One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, "If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!" 23:40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Don't you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 23:41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong." 23:42 He said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom." 23:43 Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
***Matt.12:38 Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you." 12:39 But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Many today as at Christ times seek signs from God and Christ thinking there nothing wrong with such signs to encourage faith, but Christ stunningly called seeking of sign wicked! But why would seeking signs be evil? The flesh is never satisfied its always seeking one more thing to believe its never enough, that is its nature, but do you understand the nature of sin in us humans?
Rom.7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Matthew 13:15 for this people's heart has grown callous, their ears are dull of hearing, they have closed their eyes; or else perhaps they might perceive with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and should turn again; and I would heal them.'{Isaiah 6:9-10}
The flesh is weak, it must constantly be reassured in every relationship it is found in, or it immediately starts distrusting. It must be in a constant state of communication, and reassurance by voice, touch, and sight. This lust of our flesh has caused the misleading of people by religion. Religion supplies the contact with other flesh making it the approval of God by proxy.
Luke 16:15 He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God. Luke 12:8 "I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God;
These Pharisee's were that contact for people visibly where ones thought of God when looking at them as religious leader, setting themselves aside with garb, teachings, and visual humility. Those of the flesh studied their ever movement, and gestures, thinking this is the way God acts in righteousness; to their very voice modulation. So much so that seeking God by truth and Spirit matter little to this generation.
Luke 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
John 3:19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
John 5:41 I don't receive glory from men.
Signs are powerful, people love power, power in other human's by position and power in miracles, nations have been mislead by power found in people personality, military arms, sight, for thousand's of years. People have been mislead by prophesy, but have you thought why such prophesy is so “powerful”? It is so powerful because prophesy are signs from a person speaking for God to warn us! Yes, the very thing people here were clamoring for. Give us something so we can believe, so we may put faith that you are from God, or God is speaking too us from you? This is the illusion of prophesy in misleading religious people. There is a constant state of seeking something new in prophesy looking for that one person, or group of people with special knowledge of God hidden from the rest of mankind; those having light about the end of our world. First, faith is something we act upon for love of God, not for what we can get, but out of appreciation for God's own love towards us without signs,
It is something that is unseen by human eye, it is between us and God. This trust we give him not for a show or out of distrust, but because we love him in our trusting him as good. Distrust is of our fallen flesh that is in fear of making a mistakes that will cost us something, or that we must give something up, or what others might think of us? All such reasoning is wicked it has nothing to do with God or faith.
4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34} 4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
***Matt.12:40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 12:41 The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, someone greater than Jonah is here.
Christ in every word spoken proved God's ways higher than the way we human think. Whats wrong with making a show? What harm can it do, if some good comes from it, and people come to the Lord? Isn't that the human way? Make a bang, get some attention, appeal to the flesh, so it might listen, do something provocative, buy something, that how its all works, correct?
Thousand's of years later we have huge massive churches, entertainment, movies, and the list is endless, giving signs to those of the flesh to make the message of Christ appealing, but Christ refused, rejected such weak and cunning uses of himself, and the words he spoke from above. If they weren't enough to change hearts those hearts were not going to be changed for his Father.
Ezekiel 14:20 though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, they should deliver neither son nor daughter; they should but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.
Luke.16:27 "He said, 'I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house; 16:28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won't also come into this place of torment.' 16:29 "But Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.' 16:30 "He said, 'No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' 16:31 "He said to him, 'If they don't listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.'"
Unlike so many today who make preaching and teaching about their power they muster up to do God's work, Christ instead was a faithful slave that would not put on a show on in his flesh. His power came from above, from the Father, and he waited until God directed him to preform a powerful work. Christ warned us weeds would over take the field of God's planting and produce a counterfeit kingdom, the weed stealing the ground of the field of God's planting for his children - wheat.
Matthew 13:33 He spoke another parable to them. "The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures{literally, three sata. 3 sata is about 39 litres or a bit more than a bushel} of meal, until it was all leavened."
Human have taken the message of Christ and made the preaching of the word of God from their will, their flesh, from self, creating yet more fleshly thinking Christian's. They build like men of the world empires comparing themselves against their competitors using every tactic they can to win. So goes religion, in a show of advertising, and here we find the fruit of all false religion, and what is that? If some good comes from it, we can justify the bad! Sadly, many new bible students uses the same line of reasoning taught them by fleshly teachers. Unwittingly playing into the very counterfeit kingdoms Christ warn us about. Their not knowing a good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and bad tree cannot bear good fruit. A little evil is not justified by some good humans do!
Matt.7:18 A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. 7:19 Every tree that doesn't grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. 7:20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
James 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water. 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
The tree having good fruit is not of man, nor these Pharisee's wanting a sign to impress the flesh, God 's tree was in the tomb for 3-1/2 days and miraculously raised out of death into incorruptible, immortality, given a kingdom, glorified in heaven, and not on earth. Those Pharisee's could not look up, they had a physical kingdom, nor could they believe in Spirit and truth nothing Christ could of done in the flesh would have impressed them because they like so many weed Christian's first look to men to please them, than to a group, and a government, but not up, blindly believing those in the flesh are speaking for God, no sign will be given them as the search the world over for a new forth coming prophecy so that day will not over taken them it already has.
Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away. 21:34 "So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly. 21:35 For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth. 21:36 Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
***Matt.12:42 The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here.
Jesus had just condemned those of Israel seeking a sign from him for proof he was the Messiah, now he turn his attention to yet another condemnation of this generation. Let us pause here for a moment for some context. Who was Christ talking to? It was the Jews, God's people not foreigner, or pangs. How could God's people having all the holy writings and the temple service lack such understanding of God own Son Christ Jesus. Moreover, how could Christ call them a wicked generation? And to add insult to injury Christ tells them the queen of south, not even a Jew would condemn this generation of God's people?
Matt.18:9 He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others. 18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
Christ was not given to flatter or the glory of men, he spoke profound truth, and that truth when coming from the Truth Christ Jesus was a judgment for all times. In other words, truth does not lie if Christ said it, it cannot be forgotten, it is inscribe into the heavens until it is completed. The very danger all religious people face is thinking by what they know they are above others because of knowledge of God's written word. This problem is common among sinful human just look at the world where law maker in top seats of government are caught up in breaking the laws they help legislated, do you understand why?
Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but Yahweh weighs the motives.
It is because those enforcing those laws judgments think that the enforcement of makes them makes them special above other, the rules don't apply to them because of their power. They give themselves the right to judge by their position. In other words, the owner of the store can eat the candy its his store, Correct?
Matt.7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. 7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? 7:4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye?
But here Christ stuns his listener into reality, they are not the owner of the Law, or the teaching of Solomon or any other teaching found in the holy writings they are God's, and they are written in truth, because one knows the scriptures does not authorize one to judge other by them. There judgment were faulty based upon fleshly thinking, based upon privilege, based upon self-worth, and because of that a queen not of their nation that would listen to the Spirit of God through the Son of God would prove more righteous than God's chosen people.
James 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"? 4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34} 4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 4:9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you. 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
***Matt.12:43 But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and doesn't find it. 12:44 Then he says, 'I will return into my house from which I came out,' and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 12:45 Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation."
How was the nation of Israel sweep clean and its house set in order? First was the blood of the passover lamb atoning for their sin, providing away into salvation as Moses crossed the Red Sea on dry land. Than the law the great law given to Moses from God's figured inaugurated by blood. The priesthood, the tent of meeting, and of course the prophets, and kings that kept Israel clean and in order so she could be God's child.
Levitius 10:10 and that you are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;
Numbers 9:13 But the man who is clean, and is not on a journey, and fails to keep the Passover, that soul shall be cut off from his people. Because he didn't offer the offering of Yahweh in its appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.
But here Jesus speak of a time not so good for Israel in its mist was the very kingdom of God, Christ Jesus, the greatest prophet, the one YHWH would uses for all times to speak to mankind from heaven by Holy Spirit. Yes, Christ the fulfillment of all written and done before him by God's people the completion of the law, the prophets and that which is written in the scriptures YHWH was closing an age a page bring in new heavens and earth for his anointed followers, a spiritual Israel with a heavenly mountain and a kingdom that could not be shaken by world events any longer.
Heb.1:1 God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 1:2 has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.
Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can't be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe.
Hebrews 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels.
Christ would one more time sweep God's house clean, the greatest and last prophet of God to finish his work with fleshly Israel, but would they humble themselves seeking above the kingdom of God or stay fleshly in the power of waging war with flesh and blood, losing their cleanness by blood sacrifice setting their nation in order free from the judgment of sin by God?
Hebrews 10:4 For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.
Hebrews 12:24 to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant,{Jeremiah 31:31} and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.
1 John 3:5 You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and in him is no sin.
1 John 3:6 Whoever remains in him doesn't sin. Whoever sins hasn't seen him, neither knows him.
1 John 3:9 Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God.
No! The were self-welled, proud and arrogant cling to self-righteousness thinking they were clean, thinking it was by personal efforts of keeping the law that made them holy and better than all other nations, what a folly! No! God's efforts, God's mercy, God given innocent animal life made them clean and holy, God's law, God's prophets, they had gotten it 180 degrees backward, in pride and falsehood the lurking place of demons.
Luke 18:9 He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others. 18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
They demand a sign from Christ he refused, they had all the prophets all the law of God and still they could not understand anything they could not see, feel, and touch they had no faith in the invisible God that gave them their temple and its service, they saw only man ruling and being a priest in their nations as powerful. They could not hear Christ words and became violently angry with his righteousness expressed in his teachings from above.
John 8:47 He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don't hear, because you are not of God." Luke 24:11 These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn't believe them.
The entire nation was filled with the spirit of evil from evil spirit until they murder the Son of God. Their house had become not clean by God's mercy it had become the lurking place of evil spirit, and the actions of the evil spirit working through those in power had the innocent sinless life of God's own Son murder, what a shameful course!
Luke 13:35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'"{Psalm 118:26}
Luke 12:39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not allowed his house to be broken into.
Some repented, cutting them to the heart for shedding innocent blood, the blood of a righteous man came upon the house of God, and soon so would God's wrath! Christian's must never return to works of law, filling their minds with self-righteousness as did the Jews, they must hold on to faith in the blood of Christ being fully redeemed. The must walk in undeserved kindness knowing that in them dwells nothing good to redeem themselves or walk in Christ with out God's own works for us.
Hebrews 7:16 who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:
Colossians 1:11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy;
Colossians 1:13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love;
Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might
***Matt. 12:46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him. One said to him, "Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you." 12:48 But he answered him who spoke to him, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?" 12:49 He stretched out his hand towards his disciples, and said, "Behold, my mother and my brothers! 12:50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother."
There just is, and than there is the way it should be. Many become offend when truth standards are stated, why? Because they personally internalize everything in life when it comes to their emotions. Sadly, with that human flaw one cannot understand even the simplest truths because their feelings making them the center of gravity on earth where the universes revolve around!
Jer.17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? 17:10 I, Yahweh, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.
Truth is not an idea that sound good, it is rather a pillar of support of the creation itself when removed for feelings destroys the very existence of the one thinking their feelings are more important than truth of God. Thankfully, mankind cannot remove these truths or we simply would not exist when looking at the history of mankind. Christ makes a truths statement that each person professing to be a Christian's, which means according to truth “In Christ” a member of his spirit body, not physical that spiritual brother, and sisters are greater than those of our flesh.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
This should not offend anyone, when a real Christian's knows no brother or sister by the flesh any longer once in Christ, not even the Christ. The flesh is of no value in Christ. Subsequently, the logic should follow that the Spirit is great than flesh and blood? The theme of the entire new testament. But here is where decrement comes in, what is the nature of our fallen flesh? It is not too hard to figure out? Which is the flesh makes all things spiritual into flesh and blood thinking, for what is born of flesh is flesh, and what is born of Spirit is Spirit! In other words, lets not be confused here, what is flesh, acts like flesh, and thinks like flesh, and what is spirit acts like spirit and think like spirit.
John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can't receive; for it doesn't see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.
1 Corinthians 15:45 So also it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul."{Genesis 2:7} The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:11 For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God, except God's Spirit.
But the flesh doesn't believe so, it thinks it can know what the Spirit is and says but it can't, and those of the Spirit know the flesh can't and are not at all surprised at the fleshes blindness and deathness of the fleshly mind under sin. We know that the fleshly connection of family is the strongest, but in Christ, as a Christian's it is the Spirit connection, why? Because those born again are a new creation as brothers and sisters all coming from the same Father YHWH ( The Spirit), so the new birth is of greater importance than the fleshly one coming from the sins of Adam. Where as, the new birth, births one into eternal life in Christ without sin.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can't enter into the Kingdom of God!
John 4:23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.
2 Corinthians 3:6 who also made us sufficient as servants of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:8 won't service of the Spirit be with much more glory?
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The book of Matthew
Chapter 12
1Tim.1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"}
Romans 8:3 For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;
***Matt.12:3 But he said to them, "Haven't you read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him;
12:4 how he entered into the house of God, and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for those who were with him, but only for the priests?{1 Samuel 21:3-6}
12:5 Or have you not read in the law, that on the Sabbath day, the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are guiltless?
12:6 But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
There is nothing more holy or sacred than God's Sabbath day, when we Christian's judge another as evil and unworthy for breaking some rule of our group, how do we explain Christ words here? Do you understand fundamental truth(s) of God's word, this is not an insult or a trick question?
Heb.6:1 Therefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on to perfection--not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God,
6:2 of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Titus 3:1 Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
3:2 to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.
Hebrews 10:38 But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."{Habakkuk 2:3-4}
Hebrews 11:17 By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son;
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.
James 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."}, when you fall into various temptations,
1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
1:4 Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. 1:6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. 1:7 For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.
1:8 He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
1:9 But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
I give tithes of all that I get.'
18:13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn't even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
1:22 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;
1:24 for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
Indeed, not even now are you ready,
3:3 for you are still fleshly.
Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day."
12:13 Then he told the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.
2 Peter 2:10 but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries;
Rom.8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"}
8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.
Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;
Heb.1:13 But which of the angels has he told at any time, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?"{Psalm 110:1}
1:14 Aren't they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
Hebrews 13:6 So that with good courage we say, "The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?"{Psalm 118:6-7}
***Matt.12:20 He won't break a bruised reed. He won't quench a smoking flax, until he leads justice to victory. 12:21 In his name, the nations will hope."{Isaiah 42:1-4}
Micah.4:1 But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of Yahweh's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it.
4:2 Many nations will go and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths." For out of Zion will go forth the law, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem;
4:3 and he will judge between many peoples, and will decide concerning strong nations afar off. They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war any more.
4:4 But they will sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and no one will make them afraid: For the mouth of Yahweh of Armies has spoken.
4:5 Indeed all the nations may walk in the name of their gods; but we will walk in the name of Yahweh our God forever and ever.
4:6 "In that day," says Yahweh, "I will assemble that which is lame, and I will gather that which is driven away, and that which I have afflicted;
1Cor.4:3 Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish; 4:4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. 4:5 For we don't preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake;
Matthew 13:15 for this people's heart has grown callous, their ears are dull of hearing, they have closed their eyes; or else perhaps they might perceive with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and should turn again; and I would heal them.'{Isaiah 6:9-10}
Luke 16:15 He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
Luke 12:8 "I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God;
4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34}
4:7 Be subject therefore to God.
Let them listen to them.' 16:30 "He said, 'No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'
16:31 "He said to him, 'If they don't listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.'"
18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
18:12 I fast twice a week.
Levitius 10:10 and that you are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;
Heb.1:1 God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
1:2 has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.
For this cause you don't hear, because you are not of God."
Luke 24:11 These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn't believe them.
Luke 13:35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'"{Psalm 118:26}
Colossians 1:11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy;
Colossians 1:13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love;
