Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it.
Is less – more? If less is more than more is less, true? Did you know that the average person checks their cell-phone a hundred and fifty times a day? But do we have better closer knit families today than in the past, when people check their phones at the end of day because they could not take them with them?
2Tim.3:1 But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. 3:2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:3 without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, 3:4 traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;
Moreover, what of the stories of people coming to love God by finding one page of a book or magazine in a jungle? How about the person that came to Christ because someone had written a few verses of the bible on a prison cell wall?
Psalms 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.
In the 1990's consumer goods reached the highest level in the history of mankind, still there is so much discontentment, emptiness, lack of values and hope like no other time in the history of mankind.
Proverbs 24:34 so your poverty will come as a robber, and your want as an armed man.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Why More Becomes Less?
Jesus stated the truth of God's moral creation, which means, human, and spirit son's of God are created morally to give. There is more happiness in giving than what? The opposite, taking! When consumer index goes up, values decline, why? Because society has come to believe that moral values go up, when we have more things. Subsequently, they base human worth on what they have, not on real values of love, kindness, giving, caring, not cheating, speaking truth, and so on. . .
2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Human life becomes valueless because it is the material things a person possess that gives them value in the eyes of a materialistic society.
Proverbs 30:9 lest I be full, deny you, and say, 'Who is Yahweh?' or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
If one page of a book or magazine can change a person values then what of a glut of books and magazines shouldn't it change people into loving each other the whole world over? Once we become a taker we drain ourselves of moral values, we spend all our time trying to get more to make ourselves happier, which is just the opposite of the truth Christ spoke.
Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Proverbs.30:15 "The leach has two daughters: 'Give, give.' "There are three things that are never satisfied; four that don't say, 'Enough:'
Does the new car, house, furniture, make the family happy? You see, what of the person who believes they can't be happy without those things? Then they can't! What must they demand to others in their family to have their happiness? More becomes less when happiness, is based upon things and not giving to others from from the greatest gift of love.
Consumption Society
On every level of society we have become a consumption society where more is worshipped as better! Human's are valueless unless they benefit us, friendship, marriage, parents and children have all become lovers of more. The lust for more is pervasive like the very air we breath. There is no contentment without having more, but more only last a moment then it wants for more, or it fears losing what it has with overwhelming feelings fear that something is being taken away.
Proverbs 10:24 What the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
The fear of losing the TV, the phone, the computer not checking the phone for emails, calls, texts, is worth than death! Can contentment come from wanting or losing more?
Proverbs 15:16 Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh, than great treasure with trouble. No! It cannot, more is diametrically opposed to contentment, more cannot stop lusting for more. Which is like digging a hole the more we dig the greater the hole gets. One must stop the lust to fill the hole back in, but if one believes happiness their value and contentment is found at the bottom of the hole nothing can stop the lust. Every facet of human society has become a lust for more the hole grows large, the question, will it consume us all before we find the happiness?
James 4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask. 4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Seed of Discontentment
Who planted the seed of discontentment? Why are people so unsatisfied with religion, 52-thousand sects of Christian religion, alone? Has more filled people up spiritually or taken away? Has mankind discontentment created a spiritual paradise they so badly want? Has volume upon volumes of religious literature made people contented with what God gives them; his Son Christ Jesus or has Christ life become valueless than at any other time in the history of mankind.
Amos 2:7 They trample on the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same maiden, to profane my holy name;
Matthew 25:45 "Then he will answer them, saying, 'Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn't do it to one of the least of these, you didn't do it to me.'
The great push for more knowledge the hope of world salvation which is worshipped in every facet of human society, is more news, more entertainment, more books, more colleges, more, more, more.
More Has caused more addictions! Yes, people now are addicted to new things, the news, talk shows, computers, phones, knowledge, what ever they get more of causes one more addiction! Everything works backwards as if someone has sold the human race an illusion, hooking them on a vile drug so powerful they sell their very soul to obtain an illusion of feeling content which is painful discontentment!
Jude 1:16 These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaks proud things), showing respect of persons to gain advantage.
What is Truth?
Eve the wife of Adam was not content with what God have given her “freely”, that is, Adam. The gift of love God was not enough, so discontentment filled Eve's heart, she wanted more, so she took that was hers like a god and created a hole that could not be filled by her on lust or her husband love. She believed the lie, and the truth was lost. Once the lie was believe so came the lust, causing a viscous circle of getting more to have less causing the illusion more was need bring contentment which was the first lied told in our universe!
1 Timothy 6:8 But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
Hebrews 13:5 Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you."{Deuteronomy 31:6}
Truth is the opposite of the lie, it is giving that brings contentment not taking. Adam and Eve were created from God's love, nothing can lack in love, love is contentment, peace, happiness the things of God.
Proverbs 19:23 The fear of Yahweh leads to life, then contentment; he rests and will not be touched by trouble.
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
False religion started with the seed of discontentment, it produced weeds that take up the soil of God's planting, just as it over came Adam and Eves paradise so it goes for everyone who is a taker.
Taking is a demand that coerces something from others that they are not willing to give us freely.
Rom.13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law.
Love cannot be demanded as a right because God's love is given freely it is up to us, our personal responsibility to believe God is love. No one, or anything can make us believe that God is love, but on the other hand, no one can take that from us. That is the definitive truth, the form of pure worship that creates perfect people without sin in God's eyes.
1 John 4:16 We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.
1 John 4:17 In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:19 We love Him, because he first loved us.
When we want more than God's love we seek it by trying to get more materially because we are discontented. That can be in more knowledge, more religious places to worship at. It may be in gifts God's gives us freely. Nevertheless, it only creates a bigger hole. That is why many have discover the more they pray about some problem, or something they want the bigger the problem becomes, more becomes a bigger hole.
Matt.5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, 5:45 that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. 5:46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don't even the tax collectors do the same? 5:47 If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don't even the tax collectors do the same? 5:48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Yet, those believing in God's love, trust, rest that he hears their prayers and will in his time deal with it, and/or give us the reason for not dealing with it? One is a request based on love, the other is a demand based as a right a right a Christian's thinks they have accumulated by some work they have done for God.
Luke 17:7 But who is there among you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say, when he comes in from the field, 'Come immediately and sit down at the table,'
Luke 17:9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded? I think not.
Such pattern is true of society, where we have become a consumption people demanding rights we think we deserve because we breath air as a human on earth. Devaluing other lives to have our own needs meant. For this reason divorces, unmarried couples, single parent homes, adult children living at home are setting all time high records, where elderly parents are forced back into work to support the material wants and needs of adult children that cannot and will not do without. Those devoid of any real moral values living in the fear being rejected by their adult children make themselves into slaves to their adult childrens needs.
2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
Galatians 1:10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn't be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 2:17 But if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? Certainly not!
Life is valueless because the material things are valueless causing more lust for the next new things to gain more value, so too people treat each other as replaceable throw way objects. If a Christian's is content, which is a requirement of truth, resting in Christ knowing he will never leave us, they can maintain contentment but should they take takes a mate, and/or bad associate, someone not content, there will be much tribulation in the flesh for both of them.
Galatians 5:1 Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
True Contentment
True contentment is a gift of God's Spirit freely given his children, where fear of judgment, and/or rejection of God's love is non-existent. It is only when we demand through our flesh more, why more? Because we lack in ourselves the faith to believe God is good, and nothing lacks for those he loves.
James 1:16 Don't be deceived, my beloved brothers. 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. 1:18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. 1:19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; 1:20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God.
The fear and anxiety of our flesh for acceptance of other people consume us. We fear men more than the glory of God, we demand certain things as a Christian's thinking all real Christian's must have these things in order not to bring reproach upon God's name, something we’ve been taught by, who? False religion that is based upon the first lie, which is material wealth is a sign of God’s favour!
1 Peter 1:24 For, "All flesh is like grass, and all of man's glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;
Galatians 6:8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
When we don't get those things, and/or we obtain them we find more problems, more things we must have to maintain those things we wanted to look like the successful Christian being blessed of God, for public appearance; the hole becomes deeper and blacker. The love of us and our families cool off into maintaining the things we demanded to have. We find a thistle patch as Adam and Eve did, but we demand a fig, a spiritual blessing from something contrary to truth and nature.
Matt.7:16 By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
Jesus showed us the truth in contentment in something so many Christian's can't even acknowledge, which was? When called a good teacher, Christ retorted by saying: “why do you call me good, only one is good God!”
Luke 18:19 Jesus asked him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one--God.
That is complete contentment free of ambitious to be more, to be somebody, to be loved and admired. Free in truth, an every lasting truth that God is so great, so powerful, so everything we need not worry about anything. If God forgets us than there is no truth and there is no God, so we are the most foolish people on earth.
Matt. 7:9 Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 7:10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
We can lacking nothing good in God, it is impossible that he will not take care of us. It is only in that thought that we can be content in every situation we will come into in this life, in this terrible horrific war of our disobedient flesh lusting against the Spirit. It is knowing in that war God has allowed us to be in, we are told he will conqueror not by our score card, but by his love something we cannot judge at all in our flesh.
Rom.8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 8:36 Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."{Psalm 44:22} 8:37 No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God must fill the hole, he must teach us how love fills the hole, how value of life is precious, and he is not the God of the dead, but the living. Then, and only then will less actually be more, less flesh, more truth and Spirit of God.
James.4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 4:9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you. 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge. 4:12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another? 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow let's go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit." 4:14 Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. 4:15 For you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that." 4:16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil. 4:17 To him therefore who knows to do good, and doesn't do it, to him it is sin.

1 Peter 1:24 For, "All flesh is like grass, and all of man's glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;
Rom.8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 8:36 Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."{Psalm 44:22}
8:37 No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow let's go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit."
4:14 Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow.
