Matt.5:28 but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. 5:29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.{or, Hell} 5:30 If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you.
1. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.{or, Hell}
What type of diabolical thinking is this? How many of the prophets of God plucked out their eye, or cut off their hand? Even the perfect law of God didn't require plucking out of an eye for gazing at a woman with lust in our hearts!
How about all the disciples of Christ is there any inspired recorder of such conduct being enforced upon the first century Christian's? Why do we find none, I mean naught! You see, the better question is, why did Christ say this in first place? How could Christ be the love of God? Gentle, kind, and mild tempered, and be talking so harshly to us here? What are we missing?
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
Without Context No Truth!
What are the wages of sin, a little sin, a lot of sin, according to God's inspired word the bible? What has been the truth witnessed to by all humans since sin entered into our world. Death!
Romans 5:12 Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned.
Here is the fundamental problem for most of us we don't have enough interest to seek the whole truth, we want to listen to someone entertain us at a Christian's meeting. I mean isn't that their job so we don't have to work so hard? Its their religious job, right to give us the needed boost after a long week of working in the world in putting up with all kinds of problems. 2. Revelation 2:2 "I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you can't tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and found them false.
That's it! I am here to be entertained by a good minister; I only have interest when something really offends me, and/or, I want to argue blaming God for being so mean and cruel to me, and/or for my religion treating me badly for in not agreeing with me!
Really, for most of us context doesn't matter when we think like this; Context means nothing more then what matters in my life right now; where I am at presently in my faith? “I mean the book was written for me wasn't it?”
“I really don't care what the context is I want an answer so I can live with this thing of plucking out my eye! I want someone to tell me a simply and clear definitive answer with no effort on my part because plucking out an eye makes me and Christian look bad to the world!”
So here is your answer! Are you under the Law, that is, the Law of Moses? If you say yes! Then you are not a Christian you may call yourself by whatever name you'd like, but your only a Christian's in name, not in truth!
Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who doesn't continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."{Deuteronomy 27:26}
And that is why context really does matter because it effects your life for real! Christ was speaking about the Law of Moses that is the context of his statement in plucking out an eye; just spend a minute and read Christ words above the plucking out eye statements then you will have no doubt that the context was about the law. 3. Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"{Deuteronomy 21:23}
Context does matters, and not only that, but who Christ was speaking to, it was not us Christian's, but to the Jews, (Christian's were not yet known at this time in history) it was God's chosen people given the Law of God whom Christ spoke to here. That is really an important point because they had been under that Law for thousand's of years; it was embedded into their very physic! Christ even stated it was so embedded in them that the Law had become an idol to them, it was their heavens and earth they lived under from birth to death! In other words, it was the very air they breathed for life!
What work can we do in the flesh that pleases God, if we are dead in our flesh to God in Christ, then the only work that please God is in Spirit.
Yes, context matters, because just like us, the Jews took the truth of God's law and made it into an idol because they weren't willing to put forth personal effort to know God. The Jews were dying from sin, where they not? All God's prophets died from sin, all their kings, all their ancestors died from sin; their memorial tombs were filled with people that had paid the wages of sin, death!
How could they make such a huge mistake? The law did not make them righteous or they would not be dying from sin! Did that matter, not really! No more so then it matters to most of us calling ourselves Christian's today! Obviously, we cannot be righteous enough in our flesh so its doesn't die!
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God.
4. It seems most of us are concerned with getting by in our sins. That is, the ones we think aren't so bad, and the ones we want to make others pay for, by punishing their really bad ones; isn't that the truth?
It not the flesh that is righteous, is anyone's flesh righteous? It can't be made righteous by the law, and the flesh wasn't made righteous in Christ. No! It was put to death in both cases to stand righteous before God in Spirit. What good is self-control of the flesh if it not from the Spirit of God in true righteousness?
But why are we all dying if God is judging us on the degree of our sin's, and why isn't there a righteous person in their flesh since Adam to be found anywhere on earth? And to top that off the only one who was righteous and sent us by God to us, we sinners killed?
You see, that is the context, it is important to know why Jesus said what he did? And remembering that no one with a sane mind would actually pluck out their eye! Come on now! Now lets listen to what Jesus actually said. He did not say for us to go to a doctor and have our eye removed, No! That's not what he said at all! Now lets pay attention to what he actually said? He said we ourselves must find the power within ourselves ( are human will power) to pluck out our own eye! We must show by our own will power we love God more than ourselves!
Yet, there were none among the apostles of Christ that loved God that much, not one! None of them plucked out their eye or even taught others to do so. Noted carefully, such thought disappeared once Christ was resurrected? We must be missing something here there must be more to this plucking out of the eye thing wouldn't you say?
5.
But why did Jesus say what he did? The truth is, he was talking to a self-righteous nation that would gladly kill their brother or sister over adultery while they thought themselves righteous because they hadn't actually committed the final complete act of physical adultery. In other words, its OK to think about it, lust in their heart for it, but as long as no knows what in our heart it an acceptable sin. Yes, like Christian's that used the excuse of not stumbling a weak one, so they live the lie while lusting for sex in their hearts, there is a righteousness in covering it up so we don't offend unbelievers, correct? Just as long as we don't act upon it, its cool, and at the sametime we are doing a good deed in not stumbling a little one proving how good a Christian we are!
John. 8:4 they told him, "Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act. 8:5 Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such.{Leviticus 20:10; Deuteronomy 22:22} What then do you say about her?" 8:6 They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger. 8:7 But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her."
Yes, it that simple, they hid behind the law, and were very satisfied within themselves that they were righteous by physical actions, yet, their hearts were just as evil as any other person to have lived on the planet earth. People have always lusted in their hearts over sex since sin entered into the human race. The only difference was, in hiding behind the law, the Jews thought themselves righteous by acts of eye service.
Rom.3:9 What then? Are we better than they? No, in no way. For we previously warned both Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin. 3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one. 3:11 There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God. 6. The Jews missed the Forrest for a tree they missed the purpose of the law, it was not for seeking their own righteousness, which was impossible! But instead the law showed themthat all sin and fail short of God's glory; that's was law and its defining messages. The law proved they were in a hopeless situations from sin, ah dead to God in their flesh! Imagine if you will, twisting that truth into to making themselves feel clean and righteous by their condemning others to what not one person could do in the truth of their hearts? They were outwardly keeping the law by a false law created in their hearts in eye service as their proof they were better ,righteous by a law that called all men liars and sinners!
Rom.10:2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 10:3 For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn't subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 10:4 For Christ is the fulfillment{or, completion, or end} of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
They weren't seeking the truth, or the truth of God, they were seeking religious approval, they sought the glory of men first to be accepted by their false religion created from their own misguided sinful hearts, while at the sametime all were dying from the wages of sin. Do you really think any of us should trust our own judgments when God's chosen people mislead themselves so badly?
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now Jesus exposes their hypocrisy by telling them what is the truth of God, the truth of God was His knowing beyond the sight of the flesh by acts of self-righteousness what was in our hearts. God does not walk by sight in judging sins.
7.
Do you think fear fell upon those self-righteous Jews when Christ uncovered their hearts condition over lusting for the opposite sex in their hearts? Fear can best be defined in saying; that when we can't control something it causes us fear, because its out of our control, which fear quickly turns into anger!
In other words, if we are to be perfect by the self-control of our flesh and still we fall far short of God's glory, then how is plucking out an eye going to fixes the real problem our heart condition, or is plucking out an eye one more act of eye service?
Romans 10:19 But I ask, didn't Israel know? First Moses says, "I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, with a nation void of understanding I will make you angry."{Deuteronomy 32:31}
We all want self-control but the Holy Spirit cannot be controlled by human will power found in their flesh, no more so then we can control the wind! No! For the first time God's people ( in context this generation of Jews Christ spoke to here) were not good enough by their own flesh judgments, and power to please God in their flesh. They never were if they loved God, and were honest about their true condition in sins of their flesh.
The law was not enough no amount of efforts in keeping the law was good enough, the law could not be satified by the efforts of sinner, all must pay the price of the law by death of the flesh, which had always been the truth in the first place if they had loved God more than themselves. If a person does not love God they make idols out of everythings; God's word, His law, his people, places and things!
However, no one dared to questions their societies accept measure of sin because it meant exposing their own faults. Now that is what “religion” is about; a group of people that have rules the group like, but nothing deeper then superficial fleshly rules of
8. - sins so none are exposes for their heart conditions, not unless it becomes public being so gross of sin that it embarrass the group! Then its time to stone the person to death so members can imagine they are keeping their own flesh clean, and/or an organization clean, while lusting in their hearts over sex, material things, greed, envy, hating one another, and all manner of secret sins, which are find as long as they keep in our personal darkness and don't come to light publicly. In other words, all have them the evil is in admitting our real condition as human sold into sin.
Luke.18:9 He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others. 18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector. 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 18:12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.' 18:13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn't even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Jesus was not starting a revival to bring in the masses, Christ was speaking as God always has spoken about a few with good hearts that honestly loved Him more than hiding their sins behind the misapplication of the laws by false religion, a law that did nothing more then condemn all flesh as worthy of death!
Rom.8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be. 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.
9. Christ went to the core of the truth, which is found in each one of us in our hearts! Where we here his words and stated in our hearts: “I am a sinner, and even the law cannot stop me from sinning, I am in a hopeless body under going death, and who will save me out of it? Such sin is beyond power of human efforts I desire to please God, but I cannot if I speak the truth of God!”
What work can we do in the flesh that pleases God, if we are dead in our flesh to God in Christ; then the only work that please God is in Spirit.
Thus, the grace of God was revealed through Christ Jesus. Yes, it is by Grace, not works of law in pluck out an eye that the Christ is found in grace! For Christ is God's glory, he is God's unmerited kindness to all those dying in sin.
John.1:14 The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John.1:16 From his fullness we all received grace upon grace. 1:17 For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
It is only a self-righteous person or a religious person that would take Christ inexplicable impossible words of plucking out an eye then lie by human reasoning to make Christ words less powerful so they can live without having to pluck out and eye or cut off a hand while at the same time teaching and claiming that person can be saved by human will power in taking strong measures against themselves, such strong measures as cutting off one of their cherish body parts! But if we were to cut every body part off, the body will still die in sin, and no sin please God so we are found helpless unless there is grace!
10 1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
1 John 3:5 You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and in him is no sin.
That is the truth of our real condition such truth crushes the hearted of a honest person moving them away from works of law, that is, away from self-righteousness found in works of law, into standing in God's unmerited kindness as a pure gift of God love that cannot be earned by our works. That is how Christ yoke is kindly and gentle, but conversely the law was a curses, found in so much pain to a truth lover it was liking having to have to kill ourselves every day by painfully cutting off our fleshly members, and still we could not keep the law in pleasing God.
Romans.7:4 Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bring forth fruit to God. 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law, worked in our members to bring forth fruit to death. 7:6 But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter. 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn't have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn't have known coveting, unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."{Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21} 7:8 But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead. 7:9 I was alive apart from the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 7:10 The commandment, which was for life, this I found to be for death; 7:11 for sin, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me. 7:12 Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good. 11. 7:13 Did then that which is good become death to me? May it never be! But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good; that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful. 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin. 7:15 For I don't know what I am doing. For I don't practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do. 7:16 But if what I don't desire, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good. 7:17 So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good. 7:19 For the good which I desire, I don't do; but the evil which I don't desire, that I practice. 7:20 But if what I don't desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. 7:21 I find then the law, that, to me, while I desire to do good, evil is present. 7:22 For I delight in God's law after the inward man, 7:23 but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members. 7:24 What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God's law, but with the flesh, the sin's law.
Christ words are meant to do just that to uncover the truth of our hearts, they were meant to be frank and painfully to a honest hearted person loving truth over the lies of their flesh! To bring us to repentance something the law should have did, but they had twisted the law into self-righteousness making it an idol instead of loving the God of truth.
Hence, Christ words went beyond the laws of the flesh putting us in our proper place so where a honest hearted person no longer hid behind a good works through law of their religion. To where our physical acts of going to religious meetings, our being honored by people as a good person for doing is no longer good enough for us, where we no longer want the approval of flesh and blood but the approval of God the Spirit.
12. And that is why Christ stated an unthinkable impossibility for a sane person in plucking out an eye, cut off a hand or foot to prove that none of us can actually put away the filth of our flesh, sin! It proves none of us can stand before God unless it is by the gift of undeserved kindness from start to the finish of our life on earth!
It would only be an extremely self-righteous unbending mentally ill person that who think the plucking out an eye some how put away the sin of lust found in our hearts, not in our eye!
John 1:9 The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.
John 3:19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
John 3:20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn't come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.
Romans 9:11 For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,
John 3:21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God."
Romans 4:13 For the promise to Abraham and to his seed that he should be heir of the world wasn't through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
Christ words are meant to humble the proud of heart when they think they are in a better position by heritage, by education, by power, by religion and/or any thing else under the Sun.
13. James. 4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"? 4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34} 4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
The Law could do nothing to make a person humble, or love God, it was an obligation just as are the laws of any nation that we obey from obligation, in today's world. Only a few, a very few actually loved God in Israel because they came to the complete light of their own hearts.
Yes, it true, they had much national pride over the Law of Moses given them by God, a pride of the flesh. How true that was even in today's world, but national pride is of the flesh, and/or religious pride, but that pride is not from the love of God, it is an idol of the flesh in not having a personal relationship with God.
James. 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth. 3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. 14. Coming to Christ
For those few humble truth seeking Jews to them Christ was the fulfillment of the law. It was not personal because unlike so many of us today, they got it that the law only proved they could not make themselves clean by physical acts of eye service, the law did not put away the filth of their flesh, that is, sin. They understood by Christ teaching that the law made nothing perfect in the flesh of mankind, it did just the opposite if they were honest, and if they were not will to live a lie in their flesh by physical acts of eye service believing such acts made them worthy before God by something they did or didn't do according to the acceptance of men in powerful positions of authority within their religious community; who were judging outward appearance, but not in true righteousness like the Son of God Christ Jesus did.
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 7:19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
Rom.10:4 For Christ is the fulfillment{or, completion, or end} of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
John 7:24 Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
They came to Christ wanting God's healing God's power that makes all things new! They came to the light of God It was not sold to them by perverse legal argument,
15. but instead they seen and felt the power of God working in them through the Son of God, they felt his love and compassion for them, although, hated by all of the world who hated the light (speaking of Israel as the world) Christ came into Israel! Those seeing the truth of their condition by the law not just trying to get by in eye service by not admitting the truth of their hearts. Christ sought out those who wanted the love of God more than this world, their world being a religious community living under the law of Moses.
John.1:9 The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world. 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn't recognize him.1:11 He came to his own, and those who were his own didn't receive him. 1:12 But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name:
They wanted the glory of God more than their world, they wanted true love and righteousness, true repentance, a freedom only God could give them! And what did Christ give them? He gave them his very life, not only in death, but much more so in life, in Spirit and truth, once he lived again at his Fathers right hand.
Their entire fleshly body had been plucked out into death. Yes, their flesh was put to death in their baptism into Christ; God paid the wages for their sins on earth once for all times in the righteous substitute life of Christ the last Adam. There was no plucking out an eye to accept Christ or cutting off a hand. Christ was accessible to everyone whom sought him, he gave freely, without payment of cutting something of us, freely to everyone asking God for His Son's precious life! Col, 2:12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 2:13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 16. 2:14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; 2:15 having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Galatians 4:3 So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.
Galatians 6:14 But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Yes, those in Christ are put to death in the flesh and made alive in the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus as his body members the temple of the living God, should be destroy the temple of God by plucking out a fleshly eye!
Why would we pluck out an eye or cut off a hand from a dead body that is buried in Christ once for all times if it were not for us trying to prove we are righteous by some works of law, and/or by some religious rules! If the flesh is dead now in Christ how could we make it more righteous in death? Why would God give us the power to give a dead body buried gone forever in Christ; power to cleaning itself by a work of law that no longer exist, moreover in a body of flesh that no longer alive? How do you apply a law to dead person, do the nations of our world convict dead people for crimes? And if we are alive in the Spirit how does laws of the flesh have anything to do with the Spirit, does human flesh have power over the Spirit? A Spirit with no sins of the flesh? Do we now pluck out a Spirit eye of the flesh to add value to the Spirit when Christ stated the flesh profits us nothing, it now of profit?
John 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
17. John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
Romans 6:4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism to death, that just like Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:9 knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no more has dominion over him!
Romans 6:11 Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:13 Neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
Romans 7:4 Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bring forth fruit to God.
Yes, that is the truth like it or not! What we are doing is trying to stop sinning, but if we are in Christ by faith we have stop sinning by our faith not by the power of our dead flesh. Do we really understand what accounts us dead in our flesh to God judgment? How can using the flesh in any manner give us more credit beyond being account sinless in Christ? What are we thinking if it is not a falsehood of trying as we do in making a works from our flesh more righteous to be used by the Spirit that has already cleared us of all sins of our flesh? They exist no more!
No matter how ugly we feel, how terrible we feel in our flesh. We must have faith not in our fleshes righteousness (that is in our flesh works toward righteousness);
18. nor from our knowledge, or in our faith, but in the life and truth of Christ in us, we are his body and his body is righteous we cannot go beyond the righteousness of Christ that we have been born into by God's unmerited kindness not by our works good or bad. That is why we put faith in Christ, not our power, Christ power, in his endless life!
Hebrews 7:16 who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:
Without Christ righteousness, and remember, there is no other righteousness by which we can be saved in! No matter if we pluck off everyone one of our body part to prove we want to be righteous before God. Don't be deceived we cannot be righteous before God without Christ righteousness being given to us freely by God's undeserved kindness. It is a gift of grace not works. It is in that righteousness we must love that truth more than ourselves. We must desist from our works, that is, in a constant state of thinking we can be justified by something we are doing in our flesh, we must rest from that evil work because we cannot be good enough by some work we are doing in our flesh on earth. Simply put, we don't belong to the earth if we in Christ, we are not of the flesh in no longer exist just as Christ isn't any longer he is his flesh it is gone and he lives in heaven far above all governments and authorities on earth. And everything else is the lie and illusion promoted by a flesh that ends in a grave yard having no power over its life rather it goes up or down!
Hebrews 4:10 For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.
19.
The shocking truth is this, during the second world war Hitler's hordes did unspeakable evils to the Jews, and others. Most of the human race since would like to think they wouldn't have gone along with that evil regime.
Scientific truth says otherwise that it would have been only a very, very few of us that would not have went along with it if we lived in Germany at the time.
Few of us would of have had the courage not to have gone along with Hitler regime under the pressure that was put upon the German people.
Who of us want to face that truth? Have we honestly ask ourselves these types of important questions or are we just like all other humans that ignore such soul searching truth's thinking such evils could never happen again?
Can we say if the same evil and pressure was brought to bear upon us, my family, friends, and community I'd be one of the few that wouldn't have gone along with the killing of millions of my fellowman?
2 Corinthians 10:12 For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.
Now that is a sobering truth! Thus, for us to read the bible about the violent and brutal murder of Christ is only a read. But the truth is that entire nation of Israel was deeply and profoundly involved in killing of Christ by unrighteously using God's laws.
20.
Let us remember just because we can read of it today does not mean we are living it, or we wouldn't have went along with it if we had the same education and pressure the Jews did at that time from the leaders of Israel put upon us.
James.4:9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
We are better served in being the taxes collector going up to God's temple and not being the Pharisee whom could not imagine he was so unrighteous before God!
Is it not better if we are honest with ourselves accounting ourselves as flawed as are all humans, and accept the gift of God's unmerited kindness instead of accounting ourselves as special thinking we are better than others by some strong measure of our will power? Only to find ourselves in complete ruin when tested of fiery truth come upon us; where we thought we had something that we didn't because others told us we did, living a lie because some religion approved us as a member by superficial acts of eye service?
In conclusion plucking out of the eye stopped the mouth of the self-righteous who ignored their true heart condition and felt themselves above such plucking out of the eye. They applied it to the worst of sinners they missed the entire truth of Christ words; when he said that just a moment of thought was adultery to the God who is sinless, the sin of adultery does not go away because of a human effort or by a work of law. Sin can never go away once we sin, we are a sinner not unless there is a redemption by righteous blood, but even that is not good enough unless we have faith in it and not ourselves!
21.
Many since have taken a dummy down version of Christ powerful words of truth nullifying them by some outlandish human logic. The truth stands we must die to stop sinning, the laws power is sin that is God's correct truth not man's; the power of the law over us, is sin. Without sin the law has no power over us. Just as it did not have over Christ. Yet, unrighteous men; sinners who were under the power of the law by their sin judged a righteous man a sinner by a law created for sinners and not the righteous.
1Tim. 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers, and murderers of mothers, for man-slayers, 1:10 For lewd persons, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for men-stealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,
It is that same fleshly judgment that we must painful face, if we want to liken it as to plucking out an eye it does not matter we still live in sin unless we die in Christ, and God makes us alive in Spirit!
1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
Romans 4:15 For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.
Romans 5:13 For until the law, sin was in the world; but sin is not charged when there is no law.
So can we be righteous with lust in our hearts that is the painful question? Never may that be so, let God be found true and all men sinners, hence, liars.
Christ fulfilled the law for those humbled by the truth of the laws power over them. Those with painfully honest heart were thankful with deep and profound gratitude for God giving them Christ righteousness while God rested from his judgment of them. Christ righteous killed the judgment of their flesh so they might live in him and worship God in Spirit and truth.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:
2 Corinthians 3:9 For if the service of condemnation has glory, the service of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.
Galatians 2:21 I don't make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!"
Philippians 1:11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.
May we be found in peace with God through the righteousness of Christ.

Pluck Out An Eye, Cut Off A Hand!
Matt.5:28 but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
5:29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.{or, Hell}
5:30 If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you.
1.
For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.{or, Hell}
Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who doesn't continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."{Deuteronomy 27:26}
And that is why context really does matter because it effects your life for real! Christ was speaking about the Law of Moses that is the context of his statement in plucking out an eye; just spend a minute and read Christ words above the plucking out eye statements then you will have no doubt that the context was about the law.
3.
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"{Deuteronomy 21:23}
In other words, its OK to think about it, lust in their heart for it, but as long as no knows what in our
heart it an acceptable sin.
Romans 10:19 But I ask, didn't Israel know? First Moses says, "I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, with a nation void of understanding I will make you angry."{Deuteronomy 32:31}
10
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn't have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn't have known coveting, unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."{Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21}
7:8 But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead.
7:9 I was alive apart from the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
7:10 The commandment, which was for life, this I found to be for death;
7:11 for sin, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.
7:22 For I delight in God's law after the inward man,
7:23 but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.
4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34}
4:7 Be subject therefore to God.
They came to the light of God It was not sold to them by perverse legal argument,

but instead they seen and felt the power of God working in them through the Son of God, they felt his love and compassion for them, although, hated by all of the world who hated the light (speaking of Israel as the world) Christ came into Israel!
He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
16.
2:14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross;
2:15 having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
No matter how ugly we feel, how terrible we feel in our flesh. We must have faith not in our fleshes righteousness (that is in our flesh works toward righteousness);
18.
nor from our knowledge, or in our faith, but in the life and truth of Christ in us, we are his body and his body is righteous we cannot go beyond the righteousness of Christ that we have been born into by God's unmerited kindness not by our works good or bad.
Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.
May we be found in peace with God through the righteousness of Christ.
