1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
We live in a media driven world where entire societies are being formed by buzz words that changes huge institutions right into seats of governments and its leaders.
Imagine if you will how unstable human societies really are when the next new phrase takes hold of the world wide web and people are willing to cave in like mush out of fear of being called an extremist, or a bigot?
The question is how can instability ever create anything we can trust in? How can constant change in the rules build lasting relationships, schools, or families, when we are so given to a word by the news media that we must watch everything we do or says?
The buzz word self-esteem rares it ugly head particular when some young person kills a bunch of people and the news media wants to blame something for such evil and heinous act done against humanity.
Christian's must not fall victim to this ever changing wisdom of this world because it will without doubt devastated their faith in the never changing God YHWH
The king of our eternal life never spoke of the buzz word self-esteem, and or self-worth, not even the apostles of Christ did, but why? Self examination is not new, or self-worth that is the subject of all the great and learned philosophers and scholars found in the history of mankind.
And certainly Christ said repeatedly said we must come to him the light to repented of our past sins from in our hearts. Hence, self-examination is not something new under the Sun!
John 3:19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
John 3:20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn't come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.
However, after Christ came we find almost a blind spot to self-worth, and, if you will, self-esteem, but why? Self was not the subject of Christ, but doing right onto others became the key to truth of God and Christ! 2.
Never a word uttered about self-worth by Christ and/or his disciples.
What is the idea, the teaching of worth in our bibles from front cover to back? It is that only God is worthy, and to him goes the praise, honor, and glory. It is as if man was not created to be worthy, he was created to give God glory and that was his worth!
Genesis 32:10 I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I have become two companies.
Revelation 5:2 I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?"
Revelation 5:4 And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look in it.
Revelation 5:9 They sang a new song, saying, "You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and bought us for God with your blood, out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,
Certainly that snatches the power out of self-esteem; here below is a statement about self-esteem let see if we agree with it?
Regardless of how you answer this question, the point is to reveal the fallacy of self-esteem. This is the exact question that we ask ourselves when we evaluate and determine our self-worth, and believing we can 3.
measure our self-worth is a lie. “Am I good compared to that other person?” “Am I good at what I do for a living?” “Am I as attractive as them?” “Am I as successful as they are?” “Am I good enough for this or that?” The fallacy with these questions is that we don’t need to be “good” at something, or “liked” by others in order to be a good and worthy person. These are expectations that we place upon ourselves which leave us with deflated self-esteem. (by Joseph Wilner Life Coach)
So is this why Christ and his disciples never brought up the subject of self-worth, or self-esteem? No not exactly, and here is the reason they didn't.
God created man worthy of eternal life, he created them without all the fears we experience in just one-hour of life found in the anxiety of this world today. God created them in perfect peace and most importantly love. There is no fear in love or for that matter inputting of evil motives. God could not created an unworthy person let alone someone with low self-esteem it was not something that was known by any of God's children in heaven or upon earth. Human worth did not come into play until sin entered into our world.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.
1Cor.13:4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, 13:5 doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; 13:6 doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 13:7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 13:8 Love never fails.
It was then and only then mankind was not worthy of God, or each other. 4.
Nothing at this point of sin could make a human worthy of God's to have eternal life as did the first sinless couple God created without sin.
The Law Defying Error of Self-Esteem
It did not matter to Christ or his disciples about mankind's self-worth, because that indeed was a faulty template to measures one worth to God against.
Measuring a broken piece of equipment as a template to build another one make the new one broken also!
2 Corinthians 10:12 For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.
To measure ourselves against the worth of other ends us right back into sin! It is sin that causes us low self-worth in the first place, God's love can't cause us low self-esteem and certainly no human on earth can make up for God's love in a sinner having low self-esteem!
John 7:18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
John 8:50 But I don't seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.
John 8:54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God. 5.
Low self-esteem is a plague of sin in us, it is a fact of life as is death that going to come to all of us because we have sin in us. Defining a problem by a buzz word does not fix the inherent problem of being a human found in sin.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
Romans 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.
Worth Must Come From God
Yes, human worth was created by God, it was the enemy of God that broke the worthiness of mankind by a lie, Satan the Devil. It was that God was true to his own worth that he allowed man to chose for himself which worth he wanted? God's worth created in His love for his children and/or the worth of self-worth without being apart of God's love?
God's worth given to Adam and Eve had nothing to do with works they could do for him to make themselves worthy, no! They were worthy because God is love. That was enough for most of God's creation in the heavens, but not enough for those fallen spirit sons of God that wanted more self-worth because they prided themselves as having greater worth than God fair and justice worth God created them in.
Ezekiel.28:13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz, emerald, chrysolite, onyx, jasper, sapphire{or, lapis lazuli}, turquoise, and beryl. Gold work of tambourines and of pipes was in you. In the day that you were created they were prepared.
6. 28:14 You were the anointed cherub who covers: and I set you, [so that] you were on the holy mountain of God; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 28:15 You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until unrighteousness was found in you. 28:16 By the abundance of your traffic they filled the midst of you with violence, and you have sinned: therefore I have cast you as profane out of the mountain of God; and I have destroyed you, covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 28:17 Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness: I have cast you to the ground; I have laid you before kings, that they may see you. 28:18 By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your traffic, you have profaned your sanctuaries; therefore have I brought forth a fire from the midst of you; it has devoured you, and I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all those who see you. 28:19 All those who know you among the peoples shall be astonished at you: you are become a terror, and you shall nevermore have any being.
The law defying error of sin in us wants a self-worth to be better than others, in comparing ourselves, and measuring ourselves against other fallen children of God in sin and destruction. Sin is destruction in its least form, it is a cancers to eternal life that eats us up not only us in death but spreads corruption into our very thoughts about each other and God himself.
Sin causes us a life long battle with self-worth, and it is used by the unrighteous to enslave us to every form of teaching and error found in government, religions, commerce. Yes, into chasing the endless rainbow of self-worth by something we do better, or as well, as the next guy!
Hebrews 12:15 looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it; 7.
A Worth Given Freely To Mankind
God gives mankind his worth in the beginning, and he still does today provided we don't think we can gain enough self-worth by our personal efforts to make us worthy of God.
2 Timothy 1:9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal.
That is why we find nothing in Christ words, and/or his disciples teaching that proclaim the virtue of self-worth, self-worth is the Devil's tool to enslave all the nations of this world under his blinding power to the truth of God.
John 12:40 "He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would turn, and I would heal them."{Isaiah 6:10}
2 Corinthians 4:4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.
Nothing good or bad we have done makes us worthy or unworthy of the gift of God's worth too us in the name of Jesus Christ! If we want to come to altar of self-esteem and blame every problem upon peoples low self-esteem it does not matter because its not going to fix the problem of sin in us causing low self-esteem. If we want to destroy self-esteem taking human dignity away giving it too the power of government, religions, or commerce we can, but its does not fix the problem of sin in us.
Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" 8.
When we start in error created by sin, we cannot put on truth with no error it must be given to us by a higher power, not of others, or mankind's wisdom, it must come to us as a free gift because we are not worthy to earn it so we can come out of the error.
Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
1 Corinthians 2:10 But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
God has from his love given us the free gift of his beloved Son's life as our redemption from sin. If we want to make our self-esteem of greater worth than the free gift of God's love in his son then the value of God's greatest gift isn't enough!
1 Corinthians 3:13 each man's work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man's work is.
We will certainly end up in godlessness found in the error of law defying people misled into ever whims and teachings of demons. Satan is a angel of light that told Eve she had enough worth to be a god, but he was a liar. Today Satan is telling mankind they can earn enough worth by obeying the rules and laws of the bible to please God where he is forced to give us eternal life!
Romans 9:32 Why? Because they didn't seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone; 9.
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.
If we are a Christian's and believe that evil lie we will constantly find ourselves in a battle with low-self-esteem and even suicidal thoughts at times.
Let us make this clear, as clear as anything you can here on this earth today, we as sinners have no worth in us as sinners to make us worthy. God has happily given you a worth that no one can take away or judge, but you alone, that is, if we fall into the the trap of the Devil by lack of faith in God's promises, self-worth will become our god!
Romans 3:3 For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?
Luke 22:35 He said to them, "When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?" They said, "Nothing."
1Cor.3:21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 3:22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours, 3:23 and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.
We are not working for self-worth it has been given too us by the promises of God who cannot lie. We are dead to our worth, we have been given a new worth in an indestructible life of Christ Jesus; there is enough worth in his precious life to redeem the whole human race; those living and found in death.
1 Corinthians 6:14 Now God raised up the Lord, and will also raise us up by his power.
2 Corinthians 13:4 For he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives through the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we will live with him through the power of God toward you.
Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might
Now listen please we must endure in faith, not endure in doing more good works to gain more worth, to the end, but rather in faith to end that God has given us a worth in Christ. In that we can rejoice, we can remove the yoke of being worthy enough and see as God's see what truth, that is, Jesus Christ our truth, our faith, and our life, our very worth. Praise WHWH for he is our glory, he is our worth and we are thankful for his name sake!
Let God be found true and every man a liar! Let the praise, honor and glory go to the rightful giver of life, a life worthy of his worship, Amen, come quickly Lord Jesus!
Ephesians 3:16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Philippians 3:10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death;
Colossians 1:11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy;
Colossians 1:13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love;
Colossians 2:10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power;
1 Thessalonians 1:5 and that our Good News came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of men we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake.
2 Thessalonians 1:11 To this end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith, with power;
