“How could a farmer feed his family and neighbors if he demanded fairness before he planted? Is the weather fair, is the soil fair, is hard work fair or is he just a lazy person that wants an excuse not to work?”

Proverbs 10:4 He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.

Proverbs 26:15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish. He is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.

Proverbs 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

Proverbs 26:16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer with discretion.

2 Thessalonians 3:12 Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "If anyone will not work, neither let him eat."

Facts: Working, whether paid or unpaid, is good for our health and wellbeing. It contributes to our happiness, helps us to build confidence and self-esteem, and rewards us financially. Because of these benefits, it is important to return to work as soon as possible after an illness or injury. Dec 13, 2015

For individuals, work is an important feature in structuring: personal and social identity; family and social bonds; ways of making money, and thereby accessing a number of essential and non-essential goods, services and activities; daily routines; level of activity; physical and mental well-being; self-confidence and self-esteem; a sense of self-worth provided by the feeling of contributing to society or the common good

For societies, work is an important feature in: promoting community cohesion and safety; increasing civic participation; reducing public spending in a range of welfare benefits (provided, of course, that work is performed in a decently paid job); promoting social and economic development; organizing social life at a macro level.
