The Memorial of Christ Death

World wide Christian’s will gather around the earth to commemorate the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus in one form or another. The celebration of Christ life and death is a fundamental teaching of Christianity from it conception.

The question we need to contemplate our we a guilt person, do we motivated, and obligate people by guilt that creates feeling of disrepair if they disobey our wishes? Do we obligated family, friends, coworkers by guilt to make them do things for us?

You might be wondering what in the world does this have to do with Christ and his Memorial? Everything! Simply because Christ came to free us from guilt of sin. If there were no sin there would be no guilty.

In other words, often people have elaborate monument built to remind family and friends what they did for them and others, what they’ve accumulated because if not they would be forgotten by most people.

If God had wanted that to happen with his Son Christ Jesus he would have had his apostles and followers build a magnificent monument to honor Christ that would lasted throughout the ages until he came again, right?

But we don’t find that within the written word of God which seems to modern day Christian’s the most important date of the year to remember Christ death and resurrection.

In fact, we have just one account by the apostle Paul giving some instruction to the Corinthian congregation but we don’t see any further instruction to any of the other congregation that were miles apart with not communication devise like we have to day. Thus, if the Memorial of Christ was the end all and be all like it is today for believers why isn’t there further instruction for the rest of congregation of Christ by letters to them, not even in the last book of bible, Revelation’s to the seven congregation?

Moreover, none of the other apostles that wrote letters in our bibles gave instruction or even reference the Lord’s Meal in not participating in as a violating some sacred law?

Then of course the famous meeting by the apostles and older-men in Jerusalem over the circumcision question where they made it clear what mandates should be placed upon Christian’s; void is the memorial mandate for Christ followers, why? If it is the end all and be all for Christian’s every since the upper room?

Here we must be frank what seems normal and acceptable by humans is often is an abomination to God’s righteousness. The nature of sin in us is to descend into obligation worship which level of worship is then used to obligate others by guilt. In other words, if it does some good in keeping people going to Church its fine with us.

Luke 11:35 Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn't darkness.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Walking in both light and darkness is the foundation stone of this world, it is what its build upon, but its not Christ who is our foundation stone of eternal life.

1 John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Luke.22:15 He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,
22:16 for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God."
22:17 He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, "Take this, and share it among yourselves,
22:18 for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of God comes."
22:19 He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me."
22:20 Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

Any time Christian’s put an idol in the place of Spirit and truth they are to worship in, they deny God and Christ who must be worshiped in Spirit and truth. It is the Spirit, and it is Christ who is our truth that keeps wheat Christian’s walking in faith and in pure worship by Spirit and truth.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.

John 3:34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.

John 4:23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.

John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

To make the memorial of Christ death an “obligation-mandate” is to deny the perfect freedom of Spirit and truth. One cannot please the God of love by an obligation denying Spirit and truth. Although, those God’s standards are very high, higher than any mountain of authority on earth nevertheless they are the standards God’s children are birthed into the God of love of His Son’s kingdom.

James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

James 2:12 So speak, and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom.

2Cor.3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.

To contain lawlessness human’s must create laws, however, God’s love cannot be contained by any human laws. Why? Because its not the law of freedom without sin, freedom is Spirit and truth and that is why it called the law of love.

Luke. 22:20 Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

Roman. 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
13:9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not give false testimony," "You shall not covet,"{TR adds "You shall not give false testimony,"}{Exodus 20:13-15,17; Deuteronomy 5:17-19,21} and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."{Leviticus 19:18}
13:10 Love doesn't harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.

Once Christ died and was resurrected the Holy Spirit was poured out the new wine Christ promised his followers; at that point the followers of Christ were born again and the start or worshiping in Spirit and truth begin they received the kingdom of God, why? Because Christ their head the body they were now in had received the kingdom.

Heb. 12:28 Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can't be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,
12:29 for our God is a consuming fire.{Deuteronomy 4:24}

All things were theirs, as Christ belongs to God they belonged to Christ and God. The Memorial of Christ could not be codified into rules and laws because they now worshiped in Spirit and truth, what does that mean?

1Cor.3:21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours,
3:22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours,
3:23 and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.

It meant Christ was in them, Christ is the temple of God the real Spirit temple that the mundane physical temple on earth was a mere unreality, a shadow, an image of. Thus, each child of God worships in the living temple of the body of Christ.

Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

1Cor.3:11 For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.
3:12 But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or stubble;
3:13 each man's work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man's work is.
3:14 If any man's work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward.
3:15 If any man's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire.
3:16 Don't you know that you are a temple of God, and that God's Spirit lives in you?

Can there be another guilt offering outside of Christ righteous life, can we make ourselves perform some sort of work and gain more than Christ has given us by his precious life?

Hebrews 10:10 by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

To mock God as though he is like a man content with a show to please men by thinking partaking of emblems of Christ blood and body is an obligation work of law is an abomination of truth. Subsequently, that is why Paul wrote to a very fleshly congregation at Corinthian's who were making the memorial a physical event, making it more important than the living temple of God who they were a part of in Spirit and truth.

1Cor.3:1 Brothers, I couldn't speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly, as to babies in Christ.
3:2 I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you weren't yet ready. Indeed, not even now are you ready,
3:3 for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren't you fleshly, and don't you walk in the ways of men?
3:4 For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," aren't you fleshly?
3:5 Who then is Apollos, and who is Paul, but servants through whom you believed; and each as the Lord gave to him?

The memorial of Christ death is not a physical event it is in the truest since of the word a Spirit and truth event. If we cannot detach ourselves from living for fleshly events, meetings, talks, glory of who gives the talk or where its being done than we should take the wise counsel to stay home and not partake because we have not judge ourselves in Christ correctly.

1Cor.11:27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the Lord's cup in a manner unworthy of the Lord will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.
11:29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he doesn't discern the Lord's body.

Furthermore, we are bring judgment upon ourselves, we are then in the spirit of flesh which flesh is against God and cannot be in subjection to God. We are to worship God in Spirit and truth in Christ; the flesh profits us nothing for the memorial of Christ because it is dead to God in Christ and that is what we are celebrating!

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

The memorial of Christ never was a law for the apostles or Christ disciples, it became a law, an obligation when the yeast took over the Spirit and truth of Christ kingdom representatives on earth, within 100-years after the last apostle died.

Romans 8:4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;

Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.

Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.

Romans 8:12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

Romans 8:13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Then the church apostated from Christ by becoming part and parcel of the governments in using the same type of fleshly laws to obligate and punish those not following their biblical rules. With that move came great power and fear; nations were brought in line with heads of the church.

Today we have fragments of those yeast teaching that most Christian’s don’t care about while they practice some ritual during the spring of the year of Christ death and resurrection.

Matthew 13:33 He spoke another parable to them. "The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures{literally, three sata. 3 sata is about 39 litres or a bit more than a bushel} of meal, until it was all leavened."

1 Corinthians 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?

1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place.

1 Corinthians 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Galatians 5:9 A little yeast grows through the whole lump.
