The Simplicity in Christ

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Here we find a marvelous truth stated by the apostle Paul, did we catch it? That in Christ is SIMPLICITY!

What does simplicity mean?

the state, quality, or an instance of being simple.
freedom from complexity, intricacy, or division into parts:an organism of great simplicity.
absence of luxury, pretentiousness, ornament, etc.; plainness:a life of simplicity.
freedom from deceit or guile; sincerity; artlessness; naturalness :a simplicity of manner.
lack of mental acuteness or shrewdness: Politics is not a field for simplicity about human nature.

Yes, we do just like the bible tells, we complicate everything into great volumes of written material about God. But do we know why there is simplicity in Christ?

Ecclesiastes 7:29 (CEBA) See, this alone I found: God made human beings straightforward, but they search for many complications.

It really is very simple if we give any thought to the subject? God is love, and those “in Christ” have been transferred into the kingdom of God’s son’s love. That really is what Paul is speaking too here.

Col.1:13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love;

The being in Christ as these brothers and sisters were there was nothing complicated as there is in our corrupt flesh. Love is trust, it does not need to justify and explain itself away like our sinful flesh lives and breathe to do every minute of every day!

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.

Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;

Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.

Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.

Words of our flesh do not matter in Christ, in God’s love, for love is not asking us to justify ourselves because love does not look for evil, it rather believes all things, hopes all things endure all things, but we can’t do that now can we?

1Cor.13:1 If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don't have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.
13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don't have love, I am nothing.
13:3 If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don't have love, it profits me nothing.
13:4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud,
13:5 doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil;
13:6 doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
13:7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
13:8 Love never fails.

No we can’t because we fall short of God’s glory, and God’s greatest glory is His love. Thus, we judge from a corrupt heart created in sin that’s full of darkness and not light. That darkness is a fearful scary place so we impute all manner of evil to God.

1 John 4:8 He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;

James.1:16 Don't be deceived, my beloved brothers.
1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

But Christ is the light of the world, he is the light that translates us out of this world’s darkness into understanding God’s is love. And it is in that condition the apostle Paul’s wants these brothers and sister in. In the simple simplicity of Christ life, were darkness, fear, hate and all the troubles of this world does not exist. Imagine that as a free gift to you and me?

Romans 5:15 But the free gift isn't like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.

Yes, we are tested each day, we fall short of God’s love, we endure, but let us remember none of that changes God’s love for his children, and how can we believe that?

Romans. 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
8:36 Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."{Psalm 44:22}
8:37 No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Because the God of love promises us the most powerful thing we could ever have for all eternity his love. Though this world under goes change, though the heavens above shake and roll and the nations of our earth are being shaken to the very core, God’s love, God’s Kingdom cannot be shaken so as we are ask to receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken by the very grace of God towards us!

Heb. 12:26 whose voice shook the earth then, but now he has promised, saying, "Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens."{Haggai 2:6}
12:27 This phrase, "Yet once more," signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
12:28 Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can't be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,
12:29 for our God is a consuming fire.{Deuteronomy 4:24}

Remember, although our hearts condemn us for lack of love, God’s love is stronger than our hearts, have faith and endure in God’s love!

1 John 3:20 because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
