What happens when you go back to a narcissist after a few months?
Its game over. Much as this narcissist has made every promise under the sun about:
‘Learning from their mistake’
‘Promising to change’
and crucially
‘Being unable to live without you’
Well remember all their crappy Jekyll & Hyde behaviour which was but one of several reasons behind your leaving in the first place. Well get used to more of the same only more intense. Sure they’ll be on their best behaviour to begin with but it wont last as long as you think. Why? Because they know they have you and its now a given that you’ll put up with this shit because you cant bring yourself to break free.
Now these people are persistent if nothing else. Not that they were completely confident you’d be back but thinking if they hung on in there it would likely create the right image of remorse and with some carefully structured promises of everything that lay ahead you succumbed to giving the benefit of the doubt again! Likely these promises were made just before they got on the phone to check out who else was free as being lonesome in not in a narcissists DNA. If you think they’ve been faithful in these couple of months think again.
Given what lies ahead the rose tinted specs will be off in no time at all. All I can suggest is try your damnedest to have some decent boundaries and stick to them because you’ll be tested by the time of the second week. Actions speak louder than words.
Suggest read chapters ‘The Discard phase’ and ‘Recovering from a narcissist’ in book entitled:
‘Prepare to be tortured. The price you will pay for dating a narcissist’.
