“Imagine a drop of water in a bucket how much time do we give to foolish pride? Imagine a flower, do we put faith in its power, do we defend it as though it lives forever? Imagine a cell in your body 50-thousand of them have died and been replaced in our reading just this one sentence. We have but five minutes here compared to eternity, what are we defending?”
Psalms 103:15 As for man, his days are like grass. As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

Isaiah 40:6 The voice of one saying, "Cry!" One said, "What shall I cry?" "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flower of the field.

James 1:11 For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in his pursuits.

Psalms 10:4 The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.

Psalms 90:10 The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.

Facts: The scale of the universe is so immense that it is difficult to imagine the relative distances between celestial objects. The Sun, the Moon, the planets, the stars, and the galaxies - they all seem like distant objects in the sky. It is easy to just think of them all as being very far away, without giving much thought to the great differences in their distances from Earth. In order to grasp the diversity in true distances in the universe it helps to mentally scale things down - to compare with objects and distances we can understand. How far away would these objects be if the Earth, which is actually about 8,000 miles in diameter, were the size of a grape, or about one half inch in diameter.

So if the Earth were a grape, the Moon would be 16 inches away, the Sun - 163 yards away, Jupiter - a little under half a mile away, the nearest star - 24,000 miles away, the star Deneb - one billion miles away, and the Great Andromeda Galaxy - one trillion miles away.
Our world is a mere grape in an immense universe. Facts by Pete Harris
