Daily Bible Thought > Luke.12.1 - Beware of The Yest of The Pharisees

Luke.12:1 Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Let us be certain having no doubt what hypocrisy is? Hypocrisy is a putting on of an act, a cloak, presenting oneself as something they are not. The word hypocrisy originated from ancient word used in the Greek theater for acting, and/or actors.

1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Many Christian's have this idea that only the Pharisees were hypocrites, that is, an actor of righteousness, instead of being made righteousness, why? Because they like so many since Christ stated these words believe because of their own good works done in sincerity they could not be a hypocrite, and actor, putting on a show of righteousness.

1Cor. 4:1 So let a man think of us as Christ's servants, and stewards of God's mysteries. 4:2 Here, moreover, it is required of stewards, that they be found faithful. 4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment. Yes, I don't judge my own self. 4:4 For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord.

But in this thinking the complete context of the bible? Moreover are Christ words here mistaken by us for a religious teachings from a group or a person; let us explain? The context Christ spoke to here was righteousness did not come by the works of the law, but instead the blood under the law. The Pharisee's like so many since them thought because of their knowledge and practices of the law made them righteous having a better standing with God, that is, better than the blood.

Romans 2:21 You therefore who teach another, don't you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn't steal, do you steal?

1 Timothy 1:7 desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor about what they strongly affirm.

This deception caused yeast, why yeast? Because they were not made right, and/or righteous before God by purchase of the blood! One must be made right by God's power which power was found in the blood allowing a person to be free of sin, that is, sins that causes yeast teaching of more sins by human righteousness. If one thinks their teaching of God's word makes them righteous like so many whom foolishly believe they make themselves righteous by defending and debating the truths of the bible they have missed God's righteousness, did you know that?

1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place.

1 John 3:9 Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God.

Without redemption of our sins, we are a sinner, if we think defending the truths of the bible makes us right, or righteous - better than others sinners we are teaching yeast a polluted version of true righteousness.

James 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.

Romans 5:19 For as through the one man's disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.

Galatians 3:11 Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, "The righteous will live by faith."{Habakkuk 2:4}

In other words, truth must come from a person freed of sin by the power of Christ blood. Such a person is than made righteous by the life of Christ, and not their own.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of him.

The Pharisee's believed sincerely their good works in teaching and making others obey the scriptures made them cleaner, in a better position forgetting they had the truth of God given them freely by the precious life of an innocent victim which redeemed them out of their sins. Hence, they acted righteous, instead of being made righteous by the blood. Subsequently, their sins remained causing their teaching to be yeast from sins, sins not atone for by blood, thus, polluting the truth of God's righteousness trading if for human false righteousness.

Rom.1:21 Because, knowing God, they didn't glorify him as God, neither gave thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 1:23 and traded the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things.

1Cor.1:30 But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: 1:31 that, according as it is written, "He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."{Jeremiah 9:24}
