Daily Bible Thought: Seeking to Kill Christ for a Good Work?

John.5:15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. 5:16 For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.

Cain slaughtered his brother Abel over a sacrifice, what evil must posses someone to plan to murder a brother over doing a healing for God's glory? Shockingly, it is an evil found in all of us, judgments by God's righteous law!

Matt. 7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged.
7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? 7:4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye?

The human mind under sin, that is, the fleshly mind thinks because it can read God's righteous laws for mankind that it must enforce those laws upon law breakers. When dove tailed with a position of power given through men in authority a person is empowered and obligated to act towards those breaking the law. This is what Christ was dealing with here.

1Tim.1:7 desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor about what they strongly affirm. 1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man uses it lawfully, 1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;

But how does the law kill a sinless man, when the law is not created for punishing a righteous man? Here is the piece of the puzzle overlooked by these teachers of the law, how was it overlooked? The truth is, and if we cannot comprehend the power of law then we ourselves are prone to making the same fatal mistake as did these teachers.

1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

Romans 8:3 For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;

The law was created for unrighteous person which means it automaticly imputed evil (sin) to those under it. Now stop, and think about that statement? It does not take long for an intelligent person to realize we all fall short of God's glory, and as such, we are all guilty to a greater or lesser degree of sinning against God's law. Now take that power and give it to unrighteous men, that is, sinner, they have a very powerful tool for imputing evil to others giving them authority and power to dictate how a person should run their lives. Now plant those weeds into all the nations and one can see why false religion becomes a powerful Queen.

James 1:19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; 1:20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God.
1:21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls{or, preserve your life.}. 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; 1:24 for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

All things are unclean to those with an evil conscience, they see no good unless that good makes them look good in front of other men of the flesh. What they judge is evil first not good, they think because the law is good, they are made good in enforcing it, but no!

Romans 14:14 I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except that to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

John 9:39 Jesus said, "I came into this world for judgment, that those who don't see may see; and that those who see may become blind." 9:41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.

Romans 2:21 You therefore who teach another, don't you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn't steal, do you steal?

James 2:8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself,"{Leviticus 19:18} you do well. 2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.

The law was not partial, it held no human feelings, it was legislated on stone for that very reason so it would apply to all the same. Now the catch twenty two, if all are sinner under the law, then how could enforcing the law let one think they are no longer a sinner? It is simple, people believe those in higher position are better people automatic assuming they are entitled to special treatment.

James 2:1 My brothers, don't hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality. 2:2 For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue{or, meeting}, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in; 2:3 and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" and you tell the poor man, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool;"
2:4 haven't you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?

These men sinners thought because they were entrusted with upholding the law could judge a righteous man's conduct. However, their eyes were evil they imputed sin, thus, evil to Christ for something that was simply impossible for a righteous man to think or do. They sinned against Holy Spirit, for God had declared his son righteous by his just and impartial judgments of the law. Sadly, a entire generation was condemned because they listen to these teachers.

Romans 7:19 For the good which I desire, I don't do; but the evil which I don't desire, that I practice.

Romans 7:21 I find then the law, that, to me, while I desire to do good, evil is present.

Romans 12:17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.

Romans 12:21 Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Cain set this pattern of evil, in killing his brother Abel, moreover, this pattern is the pattern of sinful mankind by self blindness in upholding a righteous law they themselves are condemned by. They see clearly the splinter in their brothers eye, not letting him off, while they have a rafter in their own eye.

Titus 3:1 Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
3:2 to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men. 3:3 For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
3:4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared, 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
3:6 whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; 3:7 that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Christ never sinned yet he prayed for the forgiveness of those hating him, he understood as a good physician that mankind was plagued by a diseased that caused them to act out of foolishness and ignorance base on false pride, false knowledge, and misplaced loyalty over God's righteousness laws. Let us remember we cannot make ourselves better - non-sinners by enforcing God's righteous laws upon others. We can become righteous throught Christ righteousness given us freely by God's love. Let us choose the law of freedom, peering into it deeply, so we don't forget who we really are at our core.

James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. 1:26 If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn't bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man's religion is worthless.

1Pet.2:19 For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God. 2:20 For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God. 2:21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you{TR reads "us" instead of "you"} an example, that you should follow his steps.
