What is the power of love? In our world it is an emotion that can be used against us by unscrupulous people. It is for this exact reason people qualify themselves in all levels of society by what they have accomplishes in school, work experience, and a host of other things to gain trust and position, but not love!

Rom. 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

But Christ makes clear the power of God's love, which is, God show all things to those he loves. Christ did not present a resume to his listener in how he had gained the highest position next to God. But instead he states the truth, God is love, and because love cannot fail Christ is loved by his Father and because of that love great things and works were being done through the Son of God.

1 John 4:17 In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world.

This is the one power the legalized Jewish faith could not imagine let alone think in. Love is weak, a human weakness that is often used to control people making them do foolish acts. Love is an emotion, that gets in the way of productivity, and enforcing the laws without partiality. In other words, man once again proves he cannot obtain to eternal life through his own goodness, because eternal life comes from the power of love.

1 John 4:9 By this God's love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

Yes, man does fall short of God's glory, the giver of life, no matter how far the human race advances in technology they can never say they are love. Hence, they must die in their sins, they cannot obtain to eternal life as a god, because unlike God they are not love.
Moreover, as these Jews Christ was speaking to, the human race cannot understand the love of God.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn't love his brother remains in death.

1 John 3:1 Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn't know us, because it didn't know him.

They can understand human love, but not God's love, this is not an insult it is the truth, the love of God must be reveal too us from above, and in this case which offended Christ listener through him, and him alone because that was his position to teach us the love of the Father. Not the keeping of the law, not the legal mind, not through judgments of sin, which we all have. Not by zeal in keeping the commandments, but by the Holy Spirit teaching each child of God's the love of the Father.

John 8:42 Therefore Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven't come of myself, but he sent me.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another.

John 13:35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

Romans 5:5 and hope doesn't disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

They had it backwards as most of human have it backwards, God's love was not knowing we are sinners, or condemning us as sinner, but loving us enough to give us the solution to the problem so that he could teach us his love. These are the things Christ was revealing, and those things are not defined by us, or the laws of God they come from faith in a good and righteous heavenly Father that deserves our honor, respect, and love.

Romans 8:28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, "Things which an eye didn't see, and an ear didn't hear, which didn't enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him."{Isaiah 64:4}
