Daily Bible Thought > “John 1:14 The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

December 16, 2019

“John 1:14 The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Here we have the inspired word of God through the apostle John and he tells us like none other what glory was shown in Christ Jesus the Son of God.

What does he say? Well, let consider instead of just reading, let us hear the truth by Spirit as he tells us after thousand's of years? Yes, thousand's of years of the Jewish faith waiting for the long awaited Messiah. Nothing, no nothing about what, the law, but instead, grace and truth!

Colossians 1:13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love;

Shocking the power of all Israel, the power of life and death, the power of everything that stood in their lives, not a word spoken about! What God was revealing, and not to all, but to some was what? It was a glory in Christ in grace, and truth, the opposite of Law!

Proverbs 18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.

John 14:21 One who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him."

Acts 26:16 But arise, and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose: to appoint you a servant and a witness both of the things which you have seen, and of the things which I will reveal to you;

Immediately a line between light and darkness was drawn, a war if you will between flesh and Spirit. Yes, flesh that is what Israel was, a fleshly nation with all the needs of the flesh under the law. In fact, the law was for the flesh of each person in Israel their, food, drink, clothing, water, living condition, where and how they went to the restroom everything in their lives was under and regulated by God's law for the keeping of the flesh.

Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Romans 8:12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

Romans 9:8 That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as a seed.

Who they were as a nation, what records predated them into their family tree to the tribes of Israel regarding their work and heritage, their legacy if you will was all important from birth into death.

1 Corinthians 1:26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;
1 Corinthians 1:29 that no flesh should boast before God.

But despite all that Jesus never made a scene over his fleshly legacy, hardly a defense of it , let alone a word, but why? Now at this point lets be honest a chasm has just been opened not by any one person on earth, but God created it Himself between His Son and the Law., that is flesh and Spirit, which we cannot ignore if we love truth.

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now I say this, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} that flesh and blood can't inherit the Kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.

2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore we know no one after the flesh from now on. Even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.

It would be like, if we can be put into words, Christ showing up today and tells us all our religions are not the truth, and that everything taught us for two thousand's years isn't how we get to God, or is it how God is represented in truth and Spirit.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

Did the law bring us to eternal salvation, ah, no! Did keeping it faithful stop death from sin, well, is this a trick question, no, and no it didn't. Did the law created a better flesh without sin? I mean did the law cause and evolution of mankind into more and more perfect righteousness to where they had no sin, and like Adam could live for ever in paradise with God? No, again!

1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Rom.8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.
8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.

Was the law a new living way, ah, no! Was it to be used as the law of the new heavens and earth the prophet long awaited and lived and died for, no! Rather we accept it or not this was a radical changes one that shook that nations heavens and earth.

Most of its leader where driven by fear as Christ through God's power started working powerful works in Christ. His teachings would undue two-thousand years of hard earned, fought for history of their entire nation.

Romans 2:10 But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 2:28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;

But let be clear here Christ did come to destroy the law, and he didn't come to reestablish the law either. Christ came to do one thing, to fulfill the law paying it off by his very life blood. God did that at great cost and let this point stand out, he did in rejecting those under the law who did not accept his grace in his Son's life. God did not make excuse saying hang on to your law and its way some good will come from it. No he did not, so please let us not fool ourselves.

Then upon Christ resurrection from flesh into Spirit he would be the eternal life in us, and for all of us that accepted his life as God's one and only means of salvation, but not the law, or any other human on this earth and their many religions, philosophy and wisdom of this world.

Galatians 2:21 I don't make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!"

Galatians 3:2 I just want to learn this from you. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who doesn't continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."{Deuteronomy 27:26}

Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"{Deuteronomy 21:23}

Christ did not disrespect God's law mocking it, or degrading those under it, what he did is show the truth, and grace by the Spirit of God in him. He opened a door of freedom from judgment of our flesh, he gave us a gift that is so powerful that it will keep us in faith and truth until we are called home.

Christ never attacked his enemy or went looking for a fight. We must come to Christ the truth, because we love truth, not the truth of finding some scrolls somewhere, or a word in the bible that's been mistranslated, but the truth in our lives by the living way in Christ the truth, and showing and appreciating God's undeserved kindness he has freely given us.

John 6:37 All those who the Father gives me will come to me. Him who comes to me I will in no way throw out.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

Truth is a word, it means many things to many people, but living in Christ the truth is not a word it is the living power of God who is truth and everything he says and does is truth that perfectly aligned with his actions now that is not a word called truth! It is the life we are to have and live in, and that is why my friend we need grace!

Romans 5:20 The law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly;

Daniel your brother in the grace of God
