MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > 2 Peter 2:19 promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him.

2 Peter 2:19 promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him.

It is a sad thing when a Christian takes one verse and builds a case out of it that is the job of an attorney, not a Christian's. No real court of law allows for such erroneous simpleton rulings. No! The judge must take all laws and past rulings into consideration before making a judgment about a single statement of law.

Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to counsel.

Here we are sighting just such a verse at 2Peter 2:19, what is the context of liberty Peter speaks here too? What is the bondage Peter is speaking too? None of it will matter if we don't have the context of the entire written word of God to make a correct judgment by.

Liberty from what and by whom?

The entire written word of God is a progressive history of God setting mankind free from what? Government oppression, poverty, bad health, sickness, hate, what? It is SIN! The core root causes of every problem found in our universe, and is enslaved too!

Ecclesiastes 7:20 Surely there is not a righteous man on earth, who does good and doesn't sin.

The “entire” creation was enslaved to sin, and from that enslavement all human, and spirit son's, problems came from,. It is as if someone had planted weeds in a beautiful paradise that chocks out ever good and right thing overtime producing a hostel uninhabitable environment to live in.

Rom.8:20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope
8:21 that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.

Liberty by Who?

Since sin has entire into our world, through Satan the Devil, and then into the human race, first by Adam and Eve, God did not create a world leader to deal with sin, a scientist, a doctor, a business, and/or a higher education. God has always used but one position to deal with sin, do you know what that is? A priest! Yes, its true, the only job a priest have is to dealing with the sins of others.

Genesis 14:18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High.

That was their job, nothing else, but let us remember that it had to be a priest God appoints. If man appoints a priest or took such a position of their own accorded they were enslaving others to sin. They will indeed be accountable for deceiving others into sin, while calling it liberty for their own personal importance.

Luke 17:2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.

The Levitate, the priestly tribe, were under many restrictions and bound to many duties. Numbers 18:20 describes the restriction to which you refer: “And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

” Deuteronomy 10:9 states, “Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.”

Now we have contexts to make a correct judgment of Peter's words by Holy Spirit and if we should read all of Peters letters this point will become crystal clear, his writing are about a royal priesthood appointed by God in Jesus Christ our high priest.

Hebrews 5:1 For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

1 Peter 2:5 You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

What he is saying is to that body of royal priests, not to the world in general, eventhough, being enslaved to someone can be true of the world, but remember, it is an honor for the flesh to enslave itself to some powerful personality. Flesh does not see it as a defeat being enslaved to religion, a businesses, and/or a government, but when God's priest allows themselves to be enslaved its all together a defeat because they can no longer do their job free from influence of corrupting power - sin.

1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory.

Liberty from corruption

The world has been enslaved to corruption, now lets spell that out plainly, it has been enslaved to sin, when God's word speaks to corruption which is the context it addresses it as sin!
The royal priesthood, which is, the body of Christ, and the temple of God, has been delivered out of the world corruption – sin, and into the work of God found in the high-priest Christ Jesus without sin.

2 Peter 1:4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

What type of work does the royal priesthood do? Were they to build a church, a business, a government, hospitals, or colleges . . . ?

Read your bibles, priest did not engage in the affairs of the world, never will you find God telling a priest to do so!

Their work was to free people from sin, by the power of God working in them! Yes, it is true that is what Christ did and all his disciples once anointed by Holy Spirit. Moreover, this is why the pages of the Greek scriptures are void of their personal history of what they accomplished in being part of this world in building projects.

Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. 5:5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

James 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

1 Corinthians 7:31 and those who use the world, as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world passes away.

1 Corinthians 2:12 But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God.

Why? Because the power to forgive sin is God's power not the priesthood power, and that power is given to those not of this world, and who are appointed by God as his priesthood.

Certainly, some will contend that we can forgive each other, even if we are not a priest in Christ. Well, it is good to forgive, but it does not mean God has forgiven! There is only one channel for that so please don't be fooled by apostasy.

John 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.

Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"

The Love of the world, “personalities”

A personality is a creation and may not even be from God. Subsequently, to be enslaved to a personality one is overcome by corruption that they have escaped from if they are a part of Christ our high-priest.

Personality enslavement is a joy and delight too the flesh, that is, the world, because flesh is corrupted by sin, and it has built this world by the flesh through the love and honor personalities. However, no person can set another person free of sin, only God can do that in his Son Christ Jesus.

1Cor.3:3 for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren't you fleshly, and don't you walk in the ways of men? 3:4 For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," aren't you fleshly? 3:5 Who then is Apollos, and who is Paul, but servants through whom you believed; and each as the Lord gave to him?

Everything of our world is about personalities selling us some form of liberty by commerce, politics, religion, and/or some person book, all for a profit, a gain to the flesh as the bible speak to it!

Proverbs 1:19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.

Galatians 5:13 For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don't use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.

Without a fleshly personality the world would not know a person, and that is why they didn't know Christ or his disciples because they had a Spirit personality dead to the flesh, and hidden from this world.
1 John 4:5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them.

1 John 3:1 Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn't know us, because it didn't know him.

Conversely, that was the problem at Peters time and in writing his letters; the power of the flesh in personalities were offering liberty to those in Christ hd already freed of corruption of the world, that is, from sin. They had been delivered into the light. Yes! Light is without corruption, that is, sin, why would they allow themselves to be enslaved to a creation that can't remove sin from themselves or from any other person on earth?

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Rom.8:10 If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.

John 5:41 I don't receive glory from men.

John 5:44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?

It was the the power of flesh, and the need to be liked, by men; how powerful is that evil, enough to deceived the whole world that all of them once had been members of? Not being applauded and recognized drives most people nuts, not being known by this world and making a great name for ones family is most disconcerting is it not?

They had the loved of the world greater than God's appointed position of being in the royal priesthood the highest honors God can give a human on earth, how very sad!

Genesis 25:34 Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.

Isaiah 53:3 He was despised, and rejected by men; a man of suffering, and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn't respect him.

Luke 18:9 He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.

1 Corinthians 1:28 and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are:

2 Corinthians 10:10 For, "His letters," they say, "are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised."
