Righteousness

Righteousness is such a strong word conjuring up thoughts of justice, from righteous hate against the lawless, into fear of God's judgment in our lives, but do we as modern day Christian's have a correct understanding of this powerful word often used to destroy ones enemies in the name of God?

1.in a broad sense: state of him who is as he ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God a.the doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God b.integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking feeling, and acting 2.in a narrower sense, justice or the virtue which gives each his due

Self-Righteousness Vs. God's Righteousness

Is self-righteousness God's righteousness, that is, if we uphold the commandment(s)? In other words, when we execute God's righteousness by upholding His commandments are we than a righteous person before God, much more importantly, can an unrighteous person uphold God's commandments making them God's righteousness?

This is a very important question for Christian's of all faith's because so many Christian's put faith in a certain group by how they uphold God's commandments, executed on their enemy of their faith.

Understanding Righteousness From God Down

So Christian's are baffled at the apostles Paul's words, which says; not one person is righteous, they have all, everyone turned aside, hence, making us think Paul is speaking of pangs, and unbelievers, but was he?

Rom.3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one. 3:11 There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God. 3:12 They have all turned aside.

No! Paul was speaking about all of us, in context, Jew's and Greeks alike, those knowing the righteousness of God through the Laws of Moses, and those not knowing the Law, that is, Greeks coming into the Christian's congregation; not one of them stood righteous before God, but why?

First of all, one must understand the full context of the bible view of righteousness, not bits and piece applied to meeting various rules of our faith. But rather, from God down. Not one person accept the Son of God was righteous on earth, by their own “self-righteousness”, what does this mean?

It means, all humans are sinners, and because they are sinners it is impossible for them to stand before God in their own righteousness, yes, impossible!

Confusing Laws Righteousness With Self-Righteousness

There is none of God's own righteousness in men, so all there is left is self-righteousness by meeting some lesser laws of the flesh, what does this mean? It means, human left on their own, that is, without God's help cannot be righteous before God by self-efforts, hence, by self good works in meeting some of God's commandment(s); in this mannere it is not possible too obtain to God righteousness, but why?

God's righteous standards are the laws of justice to live perfectly in everlasting life. In other words, if you could meet God's standards of justice, you would deserve everlasting life by your own goodness, and/or righteousness.

Thus, God would reward you eternal life, as he did His own Son Christ Jesus, because of his own righteousness on earth, in not sinning, and/or breaking one of God's laws of righteousness.

Human confuse the laws of their flesh, or for that matter, God's Law given to Moses with self-righteousness, thinking that meeting some of them faithfully they are righteous, and have earned everlasting life by upholding the commandments, but is this true?

One Way to Meet God's Righteousness

No person could meet God's righteous standards of the Law He gave to Moses for the nation of Israel, because all were sinners, which meant, all were convicted of the law not vindicated by upholding it as a sinner. God in His wisdom made away that a person as a sinner could have “rest” from God's wrath, which is, His judgment, how was that?

Simply put, by blood of innocent animal victims, the innocent blood atoned for each person sin in not meeting the perfect Law of justice that God gave the nation of Israel; nothing else would atone for their conviction for not meeting God's law.

Each person in Israel, must squarely peer into the Law of God convicting themselves of failing short of God's own glory, that is, “His righteousness”, then turn in faith, and love for their Father who provides away out of His righteous judgment, in allowing the atoning blood of innocent animals. Faith in the Law was not required, or faith in Israel, as God's nation, but rather faith in the blood of innocent animals.

Where the nation and its leaders failed in not putting faith in the blood, the nation become corrupt by sin convicted by the law, it was only in faith in God's provision that allowed an Israelite to stay faithful too God through it all, but why?

The Impartial God of Law

The Law is a two edge sword without emotions, it must be executed on both the righteous and unrighteous obeying or not obeying the Law. The Law of God is even handed, it does not have two set of scales, it is impartial, as God Himself is impartial.

This is why when Jesus when speaking to those under law he could says truthfully, without breaking the law himself - that if one judges by law, he has judged himself the same.

What Is Righteous Blood?

Righteous blood is innocent blood, it has not disobey God's laws, it is this blood that legally justifies God's righteous judgment against us. The blood is righteous, it covers over our own unrighteousness, it purchase us “rest” from God's impartial legal judgment by the Law against us.

Innocent animal blood from a dumb beast, atones temporary God's wrath of impartial justice convicting Israel as sinners against His righteous laws.

Loving the law, idolizing and/or worshiped the Law, is still lacking for our righteousness, this worship of law will not produce legal atonement for sin without the execution of animal blood. As powerful as the law was for righteousness it could not uphold human righteousness, but rather God's own righteousness, which condemns us as sinners, unworthy of eternal life. So Christ stated more than once; if this was are standard of mercy, which was the righteousness of the Law, we were judging ourselves equally too death.

Mercy in The Law

Was there mercy in the Law? Yes, God's mercy was shown by the blood of innocent animals. In other words, the law lack mercy, it must be executed impartially upon all breakers of the law. So God by His own mercy legally justified the judgment of the Law, by letting an innocent animal give its life for those breaking His righteous law.

Mercy is love, for those deserving of the Law judgment, so one must put faith, that is, trust in God's mercy, because He is love.

If they wrongly put faith in the Law, and not in the blood of mercy, they would become self-righteous, which was an impossibility, under the demands of the law.

In other word, if they wanted mercy they must show mercy. If they were legalistic they would find every justification for not showing mercy too others by the power of the Law. However, the power of the law for those with understanding was given it by the innocent blood of animals, but why?

Power of the Law

The Law being God's own righteousness, was too much power for mankind, none were righteous in themselves to meet it, so it condemned them as unworthy deserving of death, they could not keep it on their best day.

The power law for sinful human's was in the blood, so they could legal stand before God, that is, stand right with God, legally justified by the blood, the power of the law was found in God's own mercy towards them, not in upholding the law legally. This thought so confused God's nation on earth Israel that is put it's faith in the Law as more important than God's own mercy towards them by innocent blood of animal victims.

Subsequently, they lost there balance becoming full of hate towards law breaking without mercy, and killed God's greatest act of Mercy, Jesus Christ, by seemingly upholding the law.

Matthew 12:7 But if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,'{Hosea 6:6} you would not have condemned the guiltless.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Hebrews 7:16 who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:

The power to stand before God righteously was not the law, but the blood atoning for sin against the Law of God.

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Sacrificing to the Law

What can you offer God too prove you are righteous before Him? Can you hand over you body to the Law, your wealth to feed the poor, your own children to the Law of a religious group, will this make you acceptable too God?

Well, this is the ultimate question, for those stumble over God's love, the Law could not make a person worthy before God, it was the innocent blood of animals provided by God from His own love. So without love, the Law was a mill-stone hung upon a person neck drowning them by their own sins but why? Because sacrificing everything to uphold the law, did not appease God's impartial judgment of us by the Law righteousness, no, why?

Matt.7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. 7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.

Because the power of the law for sinful humans stand in God's own love, they could not be declared righteous by Law, but rather unrighteous by the law. Faith was required, faith in what, that God was a loving God, not a Law God, what does this mean?

It means without God own love you stand condemn to eternal death without remission of your sins, thus, if you judge by law, you hang a mill-stone upon your own neck, because you don't have God's love, for lack of mercy, in the innocent blood of animals. Subsequently, do you sacrifice to the laws your flesh, believing that obedience to those laws make you righteous before God, or rather, do you accept with faith God's mercy too you in the blood?

Which God do you worship, Law, or Mercy? Which God do you put faith in, the Law or love? You see, legalism divides the two, when in fact, for sinful humans, one cannot stand without the other.

Law Blinds, Mercy Opens Eyes of the Blind

How does law blind, it is by hate created by the law. In other words, when a person worship the law, they can find no excuse for breakers of the Law, they cannot show mercy because it compromises all the Law righteousness, death is the only solution for the sinner. Those worshiping the law now demand impartially of the law in blanket judgment and conviction, what is good for the goose is good for the gander, which is a true statement according too Laws judgment.

But if a person own standing is by innocent blood for breaking the law, how can they deny the same to another sinner? How does one judge according to the Law, when they have been acquitted for sin by innocent blood? If God's wrath is the law, and it demand perfect justice without impartiality, where do we make a showing in judging others?

We can't, unless, it is by self-righteousness, that is, in degrees of sin, some bad, and some worst. We must set up a legal systems of degrees of sin so we can let ourselves off by self-rightness. We are saying I would never do that, that sin crosses the line of all moral goodness, which is true, from the laws of flesh, which are the laws of man.

So the law blinds us too our own sin by wrath, our wrath becomes so great we cannot see our own sin; our real position before God and Christ Jesus, we are blinded by wanting justice! But does are righteous hate by law work out God's own righteousness?

James 1:19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; 1:20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God.

The Laws Wrath

How could a person executed the law if they could not judge by it, those under the law having God given authority must execute the Law of God in Israel, if the blood would not atone for the person sin, than justice of the Law must be brought upon the person.

Who determined if the blood atone for the sin, God Himself, through his personal representative, a priest, or a king. But what penalty did the un-atone sinner pay with, his eternal life, or the wages of sin, which is death? Well such matters of eternal destruction were not in the priesthoods purview, they could executed the law, but not determine would was cut off eternally from Gods own love. No priest would have been so presumptuous to pronounce such judgment if they had been redeem by the blood.

This is why we find so called contradiction in the bible for those under the same law of God, David did many things the law should have given him the death penalty for; even murder.

Mans judgment of the Law would have killed David, or totally condone his conduct by falsifying the truth. David fell under God's mercy, which atoned his sins by blood, that is, why it is impossible too judge such matters, we are left wanting as judges of each other, and blinded too the whole truth. YHWH showed that judgment of such matters will be individually by examples of David and others in the bible, when we consider all facts of the case from a mans' heart into genetics one cannot judge perfectly by law written on Stone tablets, wither we like it, or not, it is not humanly possible, all human judgment by God's righteous laws are only temporary, waiting upon God final judgment through His Son Christ Jesus.

Christ Jesus righteousness Vs. Self-Righteousness

The desire to live perfectly under the law, and in the law of Christ Jesus is human, but both laws have their own righteousness, what are they? The Law of Moses was God express righteousness for everlasting life, and the Law of Freedom, love, is Christ Jesus expressed love for his Father Jehovah God, but neither laws is our own righteousness, which means we can desire, but not obtain by our own goodness or righteousness.

The righteousness of the Law of Moses stood in God's mercy in the blood of innocent animals, and the Law of freedom, love, stands in Christ own love for his Father. Both types of righteousness stand by faith, that is, trust in God's love, nothing else, why, because neither righteousness can be earned by sinful humans.

Love The Whole Truth

Not many of us love the whole truth, we love truth that benefits us, or makes us look good, but we don't like truth that makes us look bad. Does God's truth make us look bad? Yes, and no, what does this mean? When a Christian's loves truth they seek it with their whole heart, they evaluate their position in light of God's righteousness, comparing the two by truth, not doctrine or feelings, this truth, and only this truth sets them free, what does all this mean?

We have established in this document what true righteousness is from God's truth of it; which is, 1.) God righteousness expressed through the Law of Moses, the Old Covenant, 2.) Christ Jesus personal righteousness expressed in the New Covenant, and 3.) Man's righteousness, which is actually unrighteousness, when judge against God's truth of righteousness.

This truth is painful if we are full of self-worth, if we are ambitious and proud, such thinking cannot be understood, truth become us, a god, of self-righteousness by are own efforts, where we judge other for not being like us, or our standard of self-righteousness.

Most of the human race is upon this broad road, but the real confusion for Christian's and those seeking the truth is when they find that most Christian's are upon the same broad road as the world, seeking their own glory by good works of their group for, which is, sight acceptance of men.

2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

The lie becomes the truth for control and power over others, that is, the majority rules by it judgment of truth from the bible, those in the group seek safety for their faith in numbers and by power and authority of their leaders.

This power is wheeled by attorneys of their doctrinal law into intimidation and conformity to the groups laws. Anyone not conforming to the groups standards of self-righteousness is removed, and/or left for dead. Jesus was brought into just such a religion group found under the Law of Moses. All parts of the Jewish faith was controlled by their religious-government, those judged by the groups rules, were judged by God's Law were dead to the group, without hope of being united with the group again.

2 Corinthians 4:2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

This form of death, had no resurrection, or hope it was final, and complete, as the actual death penalty. When Christ showed compassion towards these dead members of the Jewish faith, he was called by the Pharisee's and scribes the devil himself, doing the works of the demon.

Romans 12:17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.

No right minded human would call the Son of God the devil, but the leaders of the law did, without compunction. In fact, they were so convinced of their legal judgment, that is, Christ Jesus being evil, they killed him, and let a known murder go instead of releasing the Son of God. If Law is always the truth, how could people do such evil to God's own Son? If being convinced that something is truth found in the bible, how could evil like this be perpetrated upon a sinless man?

The only answer for this unspeakable conduct would be self-righteousness, in not seeing oneself in light of God's righteousness. If man has no righteous from self before God, and he must accept blood of an innocent victim to stand, and say he loves God's law, how could he kill Jesus Christ? This blindness could be no deeper, or more dark than for us too just dismiss it by some good works of an organized religion does, in the name of God.

Matthew 6:23 But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Darkness comes from comparing man righteousness with man conduct as good, that is, saying: My conduct is upright, giving me the right to judge others as wicked.”

The lie ones own mouth speaks, which twist the heart into false religion is speaking God's laws as the truth authorizing you too condemn and kill your brother.

James 1:26 If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn't bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man's religion is worthless.
This is exactly what the religious leaders did to Christ Jesus, and still do to his brothers on earth today. The light they claim by commandments of the bible become darkness, darkness so great it cannot stand in God's own righteousness expressed by mercy.

This truth is lost in judgment, righteous judgment by God's word, which deceives the condemner into thinking he is doing a sacred service for God by killing the enemies of God. This blindness is so deep it locked up God's nation of Israel, yes, locked up, into a prison of darkness, which cannot be opened unless God shows them mercy.

Rom.10:16 But they didn't all listen to the glad news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?"{Isaiah 53:1} 10:17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 10:18 But I say, didn't they hear? Yes, most certainly, "Their sound went out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world."{Psalm 19:4} 10:19 But I ask, didn't Israel know? First Moses says, "I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, with a nation void of understanding I will make you angry."{Deuteronomy 32:31} 10:20 Isaiah is very bold, and says, "I was found by those who didn't seek me. I was revealed to those who didn't ask for me."{Isaiah 65:1} 10:21 But as to Israel he says, "All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people."{Isaiah 65:2}

Rom.11:7 What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he didn't obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened. 11:8 According as it is written, "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day."{Deuteronomy 29:4; Isaiah 29:10} 11:9 David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, a stumbling block, and a retribution to them. 11:10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see. Bow down their back always."{Psalm 69:22,23}

The power of God righteous in found in Christ Jesus, the mercy of God for breakers of His laws. No human being redeemed, or otherwise can stand before God justified by their own goodness, or self-righteousness, heaven and earth would sooner pass away than for that to happen!

What Do We Owe Each Other?

If none of us have righteousness to stand before God, without God giving us righteousness of His Son Christ Jesus, what do we owe each other? In other words, if we are dead to God locked up in death, and God shows us love, by the gift of Christ Jesus righteousness, what do we owe each others?

Do we owe each other the conviction of the law, to owe each other judgment? What indeed do owe each other for something unmerited, a gift of kindness, undeserved by the righteous Judge Jehovah God?

Do we come to our Lord an savior by grand gifts of service, do we come the King of eternal life with acts of kindness, handing over our body to his service? Do we stand before God by our good motive of wanting to serve Him? Do we give up this life, to redeem ourselves before God. Do we hand over our children for the service of God, for the reward of everlasting life? What good can we do indeed to stand before our creator?

What debt can our brothers and sisters owe us, so we may uphold the righteousness of God? Much more so, will that debt commend us before God, giving us a righteous standing before Him?

All these questions are important ones that we must answer if we love the whole truth, what debt do we owe God?, lets repeat that question, what debt do we owe God?

Can you paid the debt, and if not, what do we owe each other? If you hold the debts of others, for payments, by merit of their good works, to repay the debt, for them to gain your approval, and forgiveness, you are a god.

Rom.13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. But if you forgive their debt, you are a Son of God.

Putting Truth Into Action by Love

Truth what is it? Truth is not our righteousness, which truth is evil, and produces evil towards others by payment of debts. Truth is not truth without love, how can one say that? Simply put, God is truth, and what makes His truth - truth, it is His love, for He is also love.

God greatest expression of love was in sending His own Son Christ Jesus too earth to forgive us our sin, or debts. We owe God nothing but love, when love is shown without debt of payment it is perfect incorruptible light. There is no payment or fear in not meeting the debt by our own goodness, what there is, is perfect love, God's love in forgiveness of our debt.

1John 4:17 In this love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world. 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.

All man made religion demand debt, by performance, or merit to be a members therein. They take the love of God and make it into a bank holding debt with interest for their members. But in truth they create a debtors prison with no way out. This debtor prison gives them great power and authority over God's people.
When a person says of their organized religion that the truth will set them free, they are repeating words that have no meaning, because they are in a debtors prison. The truth that set one free from this debtors prison is Christ Jesus, he paid the price for our debts, before God, he gave his life, which meant, the righteousness of God's law, which created the debtor prison.

He opened the door, he is the door of freedom, from the debtors prison. The unrighteous person demands debt, and they want you to owe them everything including your eternal life, they are evil slaves, that should have freely forgiven your debt as they have been freely forgiven, but for them to do that they give up control and power.

Their power and control comes from self-righteousness as gods over others, judging them as too debts. They demand and beat their fellow slaves making them pay the debt they owe for their services. They are robbers of Christ Jesus righteousness, they steal the freedom in Christ for control, and power over other slaves in Christ Jesus.

They promote their own righteousness by demands of the laws of the flesh, and punishes those not meeting them by power and authority as master of their faith and wardens of the debtors prisons.

Dear Brother Brain,

How good to hear from you, you are always in my prayers, please keep me in yours. I am encouraged that "Righeousness" refreshed your faith, I am certain that our Father is working for both of our encouragement.

Your Brother,

Daniel

The wages sin pays is death.

That is so because of the immutable connection between cause and effect, upon which God has decided to base His universe.

Defying gravity in a physical setting can easily result in death or severe and irreversible disability.

Sin is usually the defying of ethical boundaries, which result in adverse moral consequences for self and others.

Righteousness is the result of a cognitive sensitivity towards the cause and effect paradigm in how one's thoughts and actions impact the quality of life of another person.

If we were as perfect as God - and as He ought to have created us in His perfect image - our righteousness would have to result directly from our perfectly doing the right thing by Him - and toward each other, for that matter - at all times.

However, since we were born in sin, our righteousness can only ever result from our faith that God will somehow undo the injustice done to us in selling us out to sin against our own interests and will.

If God wants us to be righteous, He better first be righteous Himself!

And the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is precisely the means that God has provided for us to appropriate in faith, for the declaring of us as righteous before Him.

That is why unbelief in the face of Christ's sacrifice on our behalf is the ultimate unrighteousness any human could possibly commit,

because it is a true and complete reflection of the wilfully acquired character of those who cannot be trusted to do the right thing by others.

Now, the Law is a mechanism, which in a lot of ways is similar to the nexus between cause and effect, except that it involves volition on a mutual basis - whereas gravity does not even ask for your consent to be allowed to punish you for transgressing its dictates.

Gravity doesn't care whether you respect its authority to smash your face if you carelessly jump off a cliff, or whether you appreciate its benevolent service of keeping your feet - and everything else, for that matter - firmly and predictably placed on the ground at all times.

And this is where it materially differs from the Law, as a means of regulating affairs between you and your Creator - or even your fellow man - as an intelligent and moral being.

Sure, nobody likes to be exploited in a relationship, but, honestly, who would like to have a relationship - no matter whether between husband and wife, parent and child, or just between friends -

based upon the principle of 'tit for tat' - the constant keeping of scores - as a basis for such friendship?

Is this how we want to measure love - our own, or that of the other; not to mention God's?

Unless we want to reduce our existence to the sensibilities of a rock, who senselessly follows the unfeeling dictates of gravity!

The choice is ours.

God wants us to have meaningful relationships where we not only do the right thing by others, but do so out of the right motives; and this cannot be prescribed and regulated by Law, without becoming a farce.

Paul says that there is nothing that we possess which we did not receive from God.

Should righteousness, therefore, be the exception in this?

How can we filter our own blood, if God did not provide perfectly functioning kidneys for us?

Is it our job the come up with a heart that pumps blood through our veins?

So why should we be born alienated and in opposition to God, unless this is what we - even with the benefit of hindsight - would actually choose for ourselves?

By means of condemning us to death for the sin of someone else, God forces us into the righteous indignation necessary to accept His apology in the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf.

Those who haven't got this sense of outrage against injustice are not acceptable to Him, because this is how He would react if He were to find Himself in our shoes.

Ironically, the Jews demanded Christ's death - and rightly so - but, because they did not do so with the right motive of righteousness - as defined by their God -

they did not attain to the redemption of their sin, as intended for by the grace of God, so that we might be declared righteous by our faith in Jesus.

God has decided to judge us by the same Law He expects us to judge Him by.

Those who want to place Him above His own Law, in order to curry favour with Him, are badly mistaken in their sycophantic adoration of Him.

God is not a respecter of persons, and He does not respect His own Person and position when it comes to matters of justice and righteousness.

That is the problem of the Pharisees and all God-botherers throughout the ages.

Therefore, those who judge others by Law ought to be judged by Law themselves, whereas, those accepting Christ, will also be accepted by Him.

To judge others with 'righteous judgment' - as demanded by Jesus - requires of us to discern whether they have fully accepted Christ themselves, which is the only basis for extending mercy to them.

Hence, unless the Father Himself believed in Jesus, and, therefore, sacrificed Him on our behalf, how could we ever pardon Him for conceiving us in sin?

That is why Christ declares us righteous for the sole purpose of enabling us to declare the Father righteous by virtue of sacrificing Him on our behalf.

Is that what you want to do?

What a tremendous privilege for mortal, sinful man.

Nobody untouched by sin is capable of serving as priest to intercede before God on behalf of sin man.

True, Christ was without sin, but only until he hung there with all our transgressions on the martyr stake, provoking the inveterate wrath and fury of God against sin.

That is why we have an altar from which those who served at the typical temple had no authority to partake, because it was reserved for us to represent the interests of both God and sinful man impartially.

Thanks, Brother Daniel, for sharing your perceptive and evocative insights into the sacred secret of God.
