FORWARD

What do we learn from the Letter of First John? We learn to walk in Spirit and truth, rather than laws of our flesh, what does this mean? What it means is that our flesh thinks in terms of law, in fact, the fleshly mind feeds on law, and not the Spirit of God. Subsequently, it is hard to put the letter of John into laws without coming up short and falling into a fearful judgment that we cannot understand, nor get out of by laws of our fleshly mind.

We are forced into going beyond our religious understanding of laws of our fleshly mind, into trusting God, that is, putting faith in him for all the seeming contradiction John poses within his letter, such as:

“If we say we have no sin we are a liar, and than just a few words later John says the exact opposite; that those in Christ have no sin?”

One can find no legal explanation through the fleshly minds laws to unlock this dichotomy. Nor can the fleshly mind understand how judgment does not exist in love, why? Because the fleshly mind cannot understand the things of the Spirit, which is why, so many Christian's find John's words a mystery, and fearful to their fleshly thinking.

But when a person ask for God's wisdom it comes too them in Spirit and truth, and John's words make perfect sense, and is found in harmony with all the Holy writings.

Much of the writing in the letter of John herein will be difficult if rejected from the fleshly mind, but considering them in context to the rest of God's word a person prejudice will be set aside if they seek truth, not law truth, there is a vast difference. The truth of the law looks first too evil, it points up evil of sin, it does not look with eye of Spirit, which requires us to look into the perfect law of freedom, love.

Which puts our thinking outside of judgment, that is, without laws of judgment from the fleshly mind, which teaches us, no human wants to naturally do what is right, they must be kept under the control of laws for the wicked. But rather, the law of freedom thinks first, of God's new creation, the son's of God, whom John was writing to and about in his letter. These having God's law of love written into their hearts, making them a new creation, and their very desire created in them to please God, not disobey God. This thought changes our whole understanding of God's word, and the book of John.

With this thought in mind approach God's word in faith, rather than religious laws, and you will find living waters, and thirst no more.

The book of 1 John

Chapter 1

1John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life
1:2 (and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us); 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

The apostle John qualifies his opening statements in the first letter of John, that is, by starting at the beginning, but what beginning? Certainly not the beginning of God's creations, which Paul talks about in his writings?

Colossians 1:15 who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

No, but rather the beginning of Christ ministry when he introduces himself to his apostles, where their physical hands could touch, their eyes could see, and ears heard, the marvelous things the Son of Man was speaking too them in the wondrous glories of His Father, YHWH; spiritual truth's too each of apostles.

John 1:6 There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
1:7 The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him. 1:8 He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light. 1:9 The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

The apostle John had a first hand witnesses of the greatest event every upon this earth, his personal association with God's own Son Christ Jesus, John's letter, was untainted, good news that John would share with the body of Christ Jesus, his brothers and sisters, how wonderful is that? Talking to a person who actually heard, seen, and touched, Christ Jesus, getting the unpolluted truth about God's love in Christ Jesus?

John 21:24 This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true. 21:25 There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn't have room for the books that would be written.

John did not confuse the issue of who he was witnessing about, not just the Son of God, but also God himself, both were revealed through John's first hand experience that John was a witness too. John further puts this whole subject on a spiritual level, Christ was revealed too them including those John was speaking to in his letter, who had not seen, heard, and touched Christ Jesus, but instead by Holy Spirit in their being a living part of the glorified Christ Jesus resurrect into the spiritual heavens with His Father YHWH, who had taking on incorruptibility. This is the subject John was to address in his letter, not just the physical contact with Christ Jesus, but the living imperishable life of Christ Jesus that all of God's children had bearing witness in them, sealed in them as the living truth!

Heb.1:3 His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.

1John1:4 And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.

The joy John speak too here is not the joy of the flesh, but the everlasting joy of God's own Holy Spirit, this is the joy the apostle John was speaking about to the brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Yes, a gift of joy that can only be known by God's own joy through Holy Spirit, a joy that is increased by sharing the very life of Christ Jesus in real terms, what does this mean? As the fruit of the Holy Spirit is truth, and real living life, too those in Christ Jesus, so too is the living imperishable life of Christ Jesus in them bearing witness.

This joy is not subjective, waning and waxing according to human emotion, this joy comes down as a gift to God's children, encouraging them that they are in the life of Christ Jesus by Holy Spirit, an everlasting unshakable foundation in heaven in the name of Christ Jesus.

Christ had been glorified by his Father YHWH, proof of such glorification was Christ promise of the Holy Spirit to God's children, one of which is joy:

John 14:16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor,{Greek Parakleton: Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, and Comfortor.} that he may be with you forever,--

John 15:26 "When the Counselor{Greek Parakletos: Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, and Comfortor.} has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.

Acts 13:52 The disciples were filled with joy with the Holy Spirit.

God had entrusted Christ Jesus with all things in heaven, and upon earth, He entrusted Christ with His Holy Spirit, and the fruits of it too transform his body members, into the likeness of his own personality; joy increases then by sharing of the life of Christ Jesus with God's children, and others, this is the Good News! There are no laws against such fruit, but it is will to remember here; it is a fruit of “God's Spirit” not ours, where we can muster it up at will, and it is also well to remember the Holy Spirit comes through Christ Jesus, as one of the many perfect gifts our good and righteous Father gives too us.

Gal.5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,{or, faithfulness} 5:23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The fruit of Holy Spirit has no fleshly laws against them, that is, they are not controllable by sinful humans and their laws, or doctrines. They come down from the Father of light having no evil of the sinful flesh, nor does God's perfect present vary as do the will of the flesh giving good and bad, or darkness and light, no!

This is the light John and the other writers of the Greek letters testify too, not men and their teachings, but rather Holy Spirit and its teaching through Jesus Christ, staying in this light they would have greatest joy, imperishable joy as both the Father and Son - have imperishable life.

James1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. 1:18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

1John1:5 This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Often times Christian's conjure up the idea of brilliant light flashing around God's throne blinding others to His glory, thinking in physical terms, like a bright sun of our universe, but is this the light John address here, moreover, is this the light from the scriptures? Well not exactly? John speak later in this letter about our sin compared to the imperishable incorruptible life of Christ Jesus, and God, that is, life without unrighteousness of sin, is light.

Isaiah 42:16 I will bring the blind by a way that they don't know. I will lead them in paths that they don't know. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things, and I will not forsake them.

There is no darkness of sin at all in God, why is this important for those early Christian's, and us too understand? Because we judge according to our own will, which is unrighteous, having darkness in us, thus, we are light sometimes, and darkness like shadows under a tree at other times.

Isaiah 33:22 For Yahweh is our judge. Yahweh is our lawgiver. Yahweh is our king. He will save us.

James 4:12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?

Furthermore, we make the ridiculous mistake thinking we can judge like God by the light of God's written laws correctly, believing they are light, even if we are not. But this is not what John is speaking about here when talking about light. He is saying that God's is light, Christ Jesus imagine of that light, we are not, we get the light not by the written word, but by the life of Christ Jesus in us as light revealing the written word.

James 1:14 But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. 1:15 Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.
1:16 Don't be deceived, my beloved brothers. 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

Moreover, God's light must produce something good, and righteous, which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, light, from the light of God own Holiness. Light then in this case is more than physical light, but rather moral excellent, without sin. The apostles John is saying too these brothers, and sisters, they must be in this light legally designated in Christ Jesus as God justified place of pure worship. Hence, if a person is not, than they are a liar, why? Because without the light of Christ Jesus justification they are a sinner, and all sinners are liars, they simply cannot stand in their own righteousness by justifying themselves by acts of goodness by laws of our flesh.

Rom.3:4a May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar.

Rom.3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one.

Rom.3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God. 3:20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

1John1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don't tell the truth.

If a person stands in bright sun light without shade then they are in light fully exposed to the suns rays, there is no darkness, it is a fact that even a blind person can see, so too speak.

How can we be in darkness and say we are in the light? It would be a lie! Yet, this is the logic John has too uses for those wanting to be under laws of the flesh, that is, either your in the light and/or you are in darkness there is no middle ground, either you in Christ Jesus, or your not? So many Christian's have no idea what this means? It is too them it a mystery, a dogma of faith, repeated like dead works upon paper, read once and a while by their leadership over them.

Gal. 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lust of the flesh.

John 8:12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world.{Isaiah 60:1} He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

James 3:8 But nobody can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 3:9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the image of God. 3:10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 3:11 Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water? 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water.

Gal.5:9 A little yeast grows through the whole lump.

However, John state a truth, we have no fellowship with Christ without are being in the light, and we cannot be in light, without being in Christ Jesus by God's own unmerited kindness.

In other words, you cannot be in the light, and live under the Old Law, or the laws of the flesh, you can only be in the light/Christ Jesus by walking in Spirit and truth, where there are no laws of the flesh.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

2 Timothy 1:10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

John 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

Here is John's meaning; he places this subject on solid ground, the apostasy would come through those enslaving the brothers and sisters to man made laws of the sinful flesh. However, in Jesus Christ the light, there is no sin, and all fellowship with him are accounted sinless by Christ Jesus imputed righteousness too them. How could they be in both at the same time, how could they be a sinners, and not a sinners, according to the Old law, or any laws of the flesh?

Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

Rom.8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"} Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.

Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

Were these brothers and sisters into self, and works of self, justifying themselves by laws of man, or into Christ Jesus freed from judgment by the Royal law of love?

Colossians 1:12 giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.

James 2:8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself,"{Leviticus 19:18} you do well. 2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. 2:11 For he who said, "Do not commit adultery,"{Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 5:18} also said, "Do not commit murder."{Exodus 10:13; Deuteronomy 5:17} Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

2:12 So speak, and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom.

1John1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Christ Jesus is in the light of the representation of his Father YHWH, perfectly he reflects the imperishable life of his Father, endless incorruptible life without death through corruption of sin, none of Adam's sin is in the new creation, the resurrected life of Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

The fellowship for these Christians' did not come from meeting together in a certain place, or by keeping the commandments of God perfectly, no!

It came through Jesus Christ imperishable life which they had become a part of, which had been vicariously imputed too them; due too no righteousness of their own.

Romans 5:21 that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:18 Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.

Romans 6:20 For when you were servants of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

Galatians 2:21 I don't make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!"

Ephesians 4:24 and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

This was the foundation stone for all good works in Jesus Christ, they were to build upon, not the righteousness of man trying too prove we are worthy to serve God, no! But rather Christ Jesus as the light worthy, as the finishes works of God, imputed too us unrighteous sinners, abolishing the laws of our sinful flesh, accounting us righteous by proxy of Christ Jesus own righteousness, not the other way around. Soon, however, would come another, Good News a teaching just the opposite of being “in Christ Jesus” the light; into darkness of self-rightness, changing God's light, into self-will of our flesh by keeping of certain rules of a group, calling it the light, but no one can be in darkness, and yet be in the light.

1Cor.1:30 But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:

Moreover, there is no fellowship with light, and darkness, either the laws of the flesh have been put to death in Christ Jesus, or they still reign in Christ; we cannot have it both ways?

Romans 5:17 For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.

Holy Spirit led, and Christ Jesus body feed; light fellowship did not come through the works of the flesh for these brothers and sisters, and if they judged by them they were condemning each other by the very laws, having no power over them, in which Christ Jesus conquered in faith and Love for his Father, nor did they have both laws ruling at the same time in them. If these brothers and sisters judged from themselves, thus, having both light and darkness, death, and life, in them, they were not in Christ Jesus, the light, whom is without variation, or turning of the shadow of unrighteousness.

Matthew 6:22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.

Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hidden, except that it should be made known; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.

Luke 11:35 Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn't darkness.

John 3:19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.

John 3:20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn't come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.

John 8:12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world.{Isaiah 60:1} He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

1John1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Here is the first stumbling block for self-righteous laws driven Christian's, boldly claiming: “I have sin, so God's righteous commandments must remove my sin, and/or punish them if I keep the commandments!” This is the biggest religious lie ever told by Satan the Devil, why?

Because even if sinful man could keep God's laws, he is still a sinner, this is why Christ Jesus came to earth, this is why God provided in the Law of Moses blood of innocent victims – animals, not because the Jews could keep the law, no! But they could not keep it! We have sin, and no amount of keeping the law is going to make us not a sinner.

Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin."{Psalm 32:1-2}

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.

If we say; “I have no sin before God by meeting requirements of my religion”, you are a liar, why? Simply because, Christ Jesus is the only sinless life that is righteous enough to redeem you from dead works of self-righteousness through laws of the flesh. So despite our best efforts we cannot remove sin, but if we are in the “life” of Christ Jesus, our sins are not accounted against us, why? Because God passes over our sins by looking at Christ Jesus righteousness. Lamb, and not our sins.

Romans 3:20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

Yes, Christ Jesus is the passover lamb of God, Christ fulfilled the Laws legal justice of condemning us to death by the God's righteous laws. However, we still have sin in us, Adam's sin, which, has not been removed, instead the law condemnation was removed, not our sin. Moreover, our condemnation cannot be removed by meeting certain rules of a group, or even a religious doctrines, they must be removed by being in the light, the life of Christ Jesus. Subsequently, there is no other place God has legally established for justification, and appeasement of His righteous anger against us by our violation of the Law.

Romans 5:20 The law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly.

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Christ Jesus is faithful in forgiving our sins, but not mankind, no! Christ Jesus is our high priest we confess our sins too, not a organization or a person in a legal position appointed by education or other human requirements.

Heb.7:25 Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

Why do we confess our sins to Christ Jesus? Simply put, he is righteous, and he can gently deal with our sins as high priest who suffered in his own flesh while upon earth. But he is also righteous, how is he righteous? Righteousness mean being right before God, for us as sinful human we cannot be right before God without help of blood being offered to justify us removing our sins appeasing God's righteous justice for sinning.

Heb.5:2 The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness.

Heb.5:5 So also Christ didn't glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him, "You are my Son. Today I have become your father."{Psalm 2:7} 5:6 As he says also in another place, "You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek."{Psalm 110:4}
5:7 He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear, 5:8 though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered. 5:9 Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation.

However, with Christ Jesus he stood on his own righteousness in two ways 1.) being sinless while in his flesh, and 2.) by his faith. in his flesh he was perfected under test.

Jesus than is our confessor being righteous before God able to take our place and pleads our cause, or mediate his own righteous life instead of our own appeasing God's legal justice towards us. Moreover, Christ righteous life removed the Law of wrath fulfilling it in loving his Father unto death.

Furthermore, it is well that we understand Christ Jesus now exist in imperishable life, a living high priest, and we are apart of him spiritually, as a body member, our sanctification comes through the body of Christ Jesus, which in turn cleanse us from sin legally from God, and makes us righteous because we remain in him, and not our own goodness through self-rightness. Hence, confessing our sins to lesser man, although, a brother in Christ Jesus can pray for us and help heal with words led by Holy Spirit to Christ Jesus through YHWH. However, a physical man enforcing some rule of a group, is pointless; causing us to retain sin, and places an idol before us, instead of God designated legally establish temple service, were we bring our sins for help by Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.

James 5:13 Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises. 5:14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, 5:15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 5:16 Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.

John 1:10 If we say that we haven't sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Those not led by God's Holy Spirit cannot unravel the apostles John's words or Paul's words when it comes to sin, John says we have sin, and than say just the opposite later on in the same letter, sounding like a contradiction, but is it?

No, not at all! John here states we have Adam's sin in us, which causes us to sin, and if we say we don't we are a liar, thus, we need Christ Jesus, for without him we have no remission of our sins.

Moreover, we must stay in Christ Jesus by Holy Spirit if we are to be declared righteous by God standard of justice, but how is this possible having sin?

Well, here is where those early Christian's, and most of organized religion misses the mark of understanding sin, and unmerited kindness, no matter how many times they parrot the words, they have no real meaning too them, but why? Because they do not have the living imperishable life of Christ Jesus in them, hence, they do not have the “Truth” which is Jesus Christ in them!; Christ Jesus life is not a doctrine as they imagined it to be as truth. To have the truth, Jesus Christ, one must walk by Spirit being born again by God's Holy Spirit as a son of God, but none of this is possible having sin, why?

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.

Because all those born again our righteous as their Father that created them; is Himself righteous, without sin, the very seed of righteousness, which produced us is from an immortal God, incorruptible, which cannot conceived in corruption of mankind where they can boast of forming themselves by human will, human wisdom, or the Kingdom of God, by human hands.

1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.

Thus, God's children are conceived as “parts”, members therein of the body of Christ Jesus, receiving the life, and righteousness of his body. In this manner they are sinless, declared righteous, not by their own righteousness, and good works, but Christ Jesus righteousness and good works.

Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He doesn't say, "To seeds," as of many, but as of one, "To your seed,"{Genesis 12:7; 13:15; 24:7} which is Christ.

When these body members are led by Spirit, they are in the body of Christ Jesus, than our heavenly Father looked at them not as many individual bodies, but “members” within one body, having a head Christ Jesus, it is the body that gives life too its members, not the other way around. To maintain righteousness and sanctification of the body of Christ Jesus, one must be a member therein, and remain a member of the life of Christ Jesus by them not giving up holiness to lesser governing bodies of men declaring their judgments righteous.

There is no righteousness before God outside of Christ Jesus, God's designated place for pure worship. In this place, and in this manner, one is declared righteous, without sin judgment against them, although, still having sin from Adam in our souls.

1 John 3:9 Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God.
