THE SEARCH FOR WISDOM

A young man set out to find wisdom, and in his long journey he was told of old man known for his great wisdom far and wide. He sought this man out, and finally found him many years later.

“Sir I am told by many you have great wisdom, what is your wisdom, and how to I get it??

The old man said: “action my son, actions! There is a great deception that goes forth into all the world!” The young man said: “tell of this great deception that goes forth, sir, if you will?”

The old man said: “there is a dark hidden place far from the light were deception lives, but in that darkness all are deceived believing they are in the light; its only seeing the light that one can know the deception.”

The young man said show me the light!” So the old man took him to a place very fearful, a dark Forrest with many eerier shadows, the lurking place of demons spirits.

The young man said with trembling voice: “why am I hear I wanted to see the light?” The old man did not say a word he pointed to a fearsome idol standing in the middle of the Forrest, and said: “when this evil idol speak do not listen to its words, watch and see, it will never move, it will uses every voice you can imagine, righteous voices, hateful, voices, sweet voices, commanding voices, but don't be fearful, it has no power because it cannot move from there, it is dead, without life so its uses many words to deceives others its alive!”

As the old man said, and so it happen the idol used every possible voice to command the young man, it would beg, pleaded, attack, sweet talk, powerful religions talk, but it never changed or did it move. Yet, it words seem like it had accomplished everything on earth that it had divine wisdom, or it was in the process of doing so.

After many days of watching the idol the young man was sick and tried of hearing all of its lies, and false wisdom. He said: “I hate this thing, it does nothing, but speak a lies, and its believes it, and then wants me, and you to believe it, but nothing changes about it, its a dead things, I don't want to hear it any more, it doesn't work, and still it claims its a god, please take me to the light I want out of this terrible place!”

The old man then said: “my son, you are in the light.” “What! Said the young man? How can that be, we have not moved away from this dark place?”

The old man said: “do you not see? That idol is your heart!” The young man said: “that's a lie, my heart does not speak all those words, I am truthful, I do what I say, I am not a liar!”

The old man then said: “What you hid in the darkness are many lies, not acted upon, but it does not move your idol or change it, the deception is in you what you want others to believe about your goodness. So why lie against the light, if you say you seeking wisdom?”

The young man said: “But sir, I love the truth, for wisdom starts with the truth, what you say offends me terribly.” “No my son, the truth is found in this dark place standing right before you, it all the lies you tell to others to make yourselves look better, see the idol,” as he pointing his finger at it.

“But this isn't the wisdom I sought, you have trick me, and set out to make we look evil!” “No my son, you seek wisdom to build an idol, but I seek wisdom to destroy them.”

The young man said: “Sir you are frightening me very much, are you going to tell others about all my weaknesses?”

The old man then said” No my son, I don't look at your idol I need not, I have one my own, if I know mind than I know yours there all the same. Idol wisdom is not the truth, but a lie, if we can only see it in others we live in the lie.”

The young man said: “this is very difficult, too much, perhaps I don't want wisdom in this pain?”

The old man said: “the idol never moves, it never goes away, it is with us all our days, we feed it, and cherish it, but we cannot kill it, for if we do, we kill ourselves, we are hopelessly attached to the lie!”

“Sir this is not the wisdom I wanted, this is deep and very negative, and I want to be loved for my wisdom.” The old man said: “Yes, you speak truth of an idol, we all want the power to chose what is good, and what is evil, but true wisdom is not found in idols.”

“Well then where is this place of true wisdom, and why did you not take me there first?”

The old man said: “true wisdom does not come from this idol, it comes from above, from the truth where no lie exist, there you will find the reward you seek for wisdom, life, but not here!”

“How do I get it sir, how can I earn it, where must I go?” “My son, you search the whole world over to find me, but the truth was in you this whole time; you refused to come to the light. You have sought in many of persons wisdom, in books, and religions, you have judged them good and evil, yet you won't come to the light, how can you receive the gifts of wisdom from above, freely given us by God's love, when you love the idol more then God, here in this place is nothing but the lie?”

The young man very perplexes said: “that no fun, it does not excite me, it does not make me feel special like the wisdom I seek. I want to build myself up, I want to find hidden knowledge and have other looked to me as a wise man.”

“Yes! The old man said: That you will have, but the truth of your idol is death, not wisdom where life exist forever. You my friend are not truth, life, or wisdom, but you steal it from others for pleasure, but as for me, I want my idol dead, not looking good.”
