Getting a Cubit Taller by Research

Luke 12:25 Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?

A man has a gun to his head and for the first time he prays, he going to pull the trigger suddenly someone at his door, he stops! An old friend just happen by and they spend the rest of the night talking about the bible.

What just happen? Was it all just happenstance, or God's direction?

Another person is told they have a few hours to live they pray, family and friends start showing up to give comfort and say their last words. Many are praying, until the person gives out their last breathe.

The question is did any of these people worry about perfect truth by words record in the bible, that is, making sure each thought and word was recorded perfectly, double checked by ancient scrolls?

Adding Cubits to Our Height

Where does this inordinate fear of not having perfect truth come from? None of us that accept Christ even cared about it at one time, we were moved by God's love and wanted a relationship with Him. God arranged for us to know him in some miraculous way, we didn't research each word and phrase of our bibles, but still God gave us what we needed to come to know him.

When and where did our trust stop for God? When we got more knowledge of him, or after some religion taught us to be anxious not trusting God at all because of false religion mistranslating our bibles? Perhaps, it was after we started associating with other Christian's finding their conduct was not correct so we started distrusting them and their teaching about God?

The question is, have we been perfecting knowledge instead of love for our heavenly Father that loved us, before we loved him?

Have we left the love we had at first for God when we knew so little about him, yet, we knew without doubt he cared for us? Have we undone ourselves for fear of not having perfect truth upon earth? Moreover, are we teaching such fear to others?

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:19 We love Him, because he first loved us.

The Fear of Letting Go

I remember many years ago I was faced with a question in my faith as we all are. The question was did I truly believe Christ words for me not to be anxious that as he promised my daily needs would be taken care of so I could pioneer?

However, if you ask a hundred Christian's that question each will give you a similar version of what has been taught them. But none will put complete faith in Christ words. Most will give a word of caution based on fear, not to be foolish we need to take care of ourselves.

Yet I did test Christ words challenging my own faith, and not theirs; it was fearful at first then every time I went out into field service there would be work, or some way to take care of my daily needs. It Never failed! I did noting special, I had no more knowledge than others, or any better standing with God, I just chose to believe!

But what if I had said: I will first research every word to make sure Christ stated these things before I put faith in them? And then found there was no proof Christ said them? I would have never put faith in Christ. Research is not faith, it is our of fear of being tricked into believing, and the fear of looking stupid to others, and/or punishing ourselves for not doing due/diligent.

James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
1:7 For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. 1:8 He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

The question is where and who trick us? Was it God, or our putting faith in men? What would we ask God in the last minutes of our life on earth, what information can save us? In other words, making sure we have concert under our feet before walking on water, is not faith. Research is the stuff we make concert out of, for lack of being able to walk on water. It is logical, it is practical, and its the wisdom of this world, but its not faith in Christ.

Walking on Water

Peter listen to Christ voice, he believed in God's power in Christ and actually walked on water. Honestly, think about that for a moment? But his logic, and human experience told him this cannot be done!

But let us remember this my friends it is this level of faith we must continue in. Do you believe Christ words when he tell us that if we believe in him we have eternal life, or must we research that for concert evidence?

Matt. 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. 7:8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. 7:9 Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 7:10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Who is tricking us? Who is handing us a serpent when asking for a fish? Now please think, what if the person with the gun (spoken above) believed Christ saved him? He was happy his friend came over that night (as an answer to his prayer) and told him of God's love. But in few days before he could have his very first bible study he died!

How much knowledge saved him? Knowledge should increase our faith, not weaken it, but instead the converse is true, we lust for knowledge because of a lack of faith. How do we know this because of fear in us that we lack something good from God. That God is withholding important knowledge from us, of good and evil. We can blame others as did Eve the serpent, or we can love the truth knowing it is us that lack faith in God's promises and not sin.

We can chose in fear to believe men on earth have been able to hid the truth from us in a conspiracy, and its our effort to unravel it to find life! This is the equivalent of removing the gun from our head, only to go down a road with no end putting us right back into death without faith.

For us to think in our last few hours such research is going to matter, is perhaps one of the greatest lies every told and believed by so many exWTS members. The idea of resting in faith, has been twisted into “just in case” we have missed something, so we don't get egg on our face again let us distrust everything before we put faith in anything.

Who would be so foolish to believe and teach that we already have eternal life? So just in case . . .

Matthew 14:31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"

Revelation 2:4 But I have this against you, that you left your first love.

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

Romans 8:28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Romans 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:5 and hope doesn't disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
