You Search The Scriptures

John.5:39 "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me.
5:40 Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.

If we never opened our bibles, and just let someone tells us what the message is in it, then it might just make the truth a little easier to swallow! But on the other hand, if we search the scriptures to find out what God is asking us to do, or not to do, we will find a number of scriptures that are not so easily explained by the teachers of a religion today such as, Christ words quoted above about searching the scriptures but not in positive terms!

Malachi 3:2 "But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like launderer's soap;

In other words, if we take Christ words above putting them into the actual context of his time, and the history of his time; the Jewish religion it would be almost impossible to imagine how they would apply now days? Because in todays world when someone search the scriptures its considered a noble righteous thing; a person with a good heart wanting to know God.

1.

Yes, the searching of the scriptures in modern religion is touted as unlocking God's personality so we might know God by our research, thus, the greater knowledge, i.e.; “means everlasting life.”

Romans 10:2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

Truth or Agenda?

The truth is if we apply all things in history including the bible to our own times and circumstances, and not in context to when the words were written we have an agenda, which is not the truth, agendas have two standards; meaning rules that apply to those people back then, but not ourselves in todays world; rules for our group, our friends, our family, and those that we apply to ourselves.

Exodus 23:2 You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; neither shall you testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice;

Proverbs 18:5 To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.

At that point we are not searching the scriptures for the love of truth, we are instead searching the scriptures to uphold our religion, our point of view, and/or to defeat someone else in their point of view.

John 4:23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.

John 8:44 You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn't stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.
2.
You see to apply Christ words to another person, religion, or to ourselves differently, is to assume we are superior. Thus, we have deceived ourselves into false thinking are we doing exactly what Christ reproved these teachers for when searching the scriptures?

Have we come to believe our motives justify us?

But are we superior because of our knowledge isn't that exactly what Christ reproved these teachers for; they equated knowledge with good motives and a good heart as speaking the truth, but is that even true? That is, they thought because of their knowledge they were beyond being judged by God and now Christ? In other words, they knew God and that is why they were teachers, which being a teacher by great knowledge made them above God's judgments!

John 8:45 But because I tell the truth, you don't believe me.

John 8:46 Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?

Here is the problem we are all faced with, if we take Christ words out of context, and/or make them apply to modern day liberal thinking we will come up completely short of truth. It was the love of truth these teacher lack. Subsequently, for us not to even have enough love to search for truth means we don't love Christ the truth! Christ stated it would be those that mourned and suffer now that would be filled with God's righteousness. How could we become self-satisfied with knowledge of scriptures that we no longer suffered for righteousness sake? Many have already been filled declaring themselves the faithful slave of God entrusted with truth?

1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don't tell the truth.
3.

James 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.

Entrusted With Truth

Being entrusted with the truth did not make God's people the truth!

Here is an important point; The flesh cannot separated the flesh from the Spirit of God, let alone a person spirit from their flesh. What the flesh actually does is lay hold of God's words stealing it to justify the flesh so the person gets to believing the lie, that is, they are a self-satisfied hypocrite by the power of the written word that the think justified them.

James.4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
4:9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.
4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Success for the flesh is becoming satisfied in the flesh, but not for the Spirit that flesh lust against and the Spirit puts to death!

In other words, the teachers of God's word that were listening to Christ words when he spoke them had gotten to believe they were the truth because God had entrusted the Jewish people with the truth. However, if they had God's Spirit in them as Christ did they would have known the truth of mankind condition in sin, and could not have believed that lie. Sin is what corrupted them in their flesh, which flesh was created from the first “lie”, and no truth exist in a lie!

4.

John 2:25 and because he didn't need for anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.

Titus 1:2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who can't lie, promised before time began;

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.

Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;

Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.

Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.

So God needed to send them the truth in the sinless life of Christ Jesus for they have never witnesses a living truth. Being entrusted with the truth does not mean a person is the truth giving them the right to change the truth or interpret it from their fleshly feelings. Truth does not change because it was created by an incorruptible God that cannot lie or change; he has no variation of shadow in the light as does human light reading God's word the bible.

“If we put pure water into polluted water how is that not planting to the flesh?”

John 1:14 The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.

1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don't tell the truth.
5.
Hebrews 6:18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.

Searching the scriptures with less then the truth of the Spirit to make application to ourselves, or our religion, or our times, is not the truth. What it actually is we are applying God's word to people that falls short of God's glory, that is, to sinner, which sinner can't be the truth, nor can they make themselves into the truth by reading God's word the bible. What we are doing is translating God's word into something far less then Christ (into our flesh), the truth, who is perfect light of God's incorruptibility that must be revealed to us, by the Holy Spirit.

James.3:11 Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water? 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water.

Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?"

The teachers of Israel weren't going to listen to Christ because they had gotten to believing the lie that because God chose them by giving them his truth that they were the truth with perfect motives washed clean by the gift of God's truth found in law their making application of God's word in their life, and into others lives by God's word, let them be decieved into believing they were the light or the truth? But was that God's truth? Was that God's fruit? However, the evidence was that they misapplied God's word to an innocent lamb free of sin murdering him in adding their own motives, in sin, corrupting God word by yeast from unclean heart. Sadly, their being teachers of the truth they should have known the law that the law was not created for a righteous man (without sin), like the Son of God, but for sinner, what a colossal mistakes!

6.
Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but Yahweh weighs the motives.

1 Corinthians 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?

1Tim.1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;

Putting Christ Words into Context

The first thing they should have known; one does not teach the truth anything, truth is the truth which is self-evident by its fruit. Christ is the truth of God, but what was his fruit? Well, he tells us in context to his words while reproving the teachers that thought they had the truth, and who proud to be teacher of the God's word the truth by their religiously searching the scriptures for greater wisdom of God.

John.5:37 The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.

John.5:38 You don't have his word living in you; because you don't believe him whom he sent.

In reading the verses just above did we catch what is truth? The Jews thought the scriptures were the truth, and because they read them, ate them as it were, they were the truth and/or were becoming more truth. The same is true of all religions today that call themselves Christian's some even bodly declare themselves in the truth!
7.
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.

Eating words that are true does not make a corrupt tree into a good tree. Eating God's word the bible by reading it religiously does not make a bad well of polluted water into a good well of pure water. Unforunately, what it actually does, is deceives us into believing we can changes ourselves by words from our bibles into the truth or the light, of God, but can it?

God is not making us a better flesh. No! He is separating us from our flesh by killing it, it is false religion that builds up the flesh by its fleshly teachings.

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.

Job 14:4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

Galatians 2:16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.

The Jews had thousand's of years as God's chosen people entrusted with his word, they read them daily, wrote them on their door post, wore them, and even repeated them over and over again. But did it produce one righteous man of any of them?

8.
If so, then why had God sent his Son to reprove these teachers the top crust, the best of what Israel fruit produced by the application of God's word? Why hadn't the know the truth and the light until Christ came into to their world?

Haggai 2:12 'If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?'" The priests answered, "No."

It was because they had missed the point by falsely called knowledge of the scriptures in having a vast education of the scriptures, yet, missing the point, have we also missed the point? The point was God resided in Christ Jesus, as the living God, the truth and the light. In other words, Christ had the Spirit of God in him as a sinless man, and the Spirit of God is the truth, so Christ truth was living in him not by written words on scrolls which the teachers of Israel dependent upon exclusivly for all God's truth.

Matt.7:16 By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?

“If God is incorruptible who cannot lie then what is his Spirit?”

If the Spirit of God had been in these men they would not have argued with Christ; for nothing can be added to the truth of God, truth is because there is nothing outside of truth or beyond God's truth, which can be added too, or changed God's truth is complete, and it is incorruptible truth.

1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is accursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," but by the Holy Spirit.

9.

Rom.10:3 For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn't subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 10:4 For Christ is the fulfillment{or, completion, or end} of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Christ having God's Spirit meant that he was in God's love, i.e, in God, for God is love, and one cannot be filled the the Spirit of God unless they are in God, who is love.

James.3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.
3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

1 John 4:8 He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love.

Christ knew immediately that the spirit of these men was from their flesh, and it was not the Spirit of God, which is love, and was in him. He needed no two witnesses protection plan for the flesh to verify that, because the witness in him was so much greater then the false witness of the no good fleah, Christ had God's Holy Spirit. Christ words could do nothing less then condemn these men as wicked hearted because anything less then the truth is not God's love, nor is it good, it is wickedness.

1 John 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God's testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.

10.

1 John 5:7 For there are three who testify{Only a few recent manuscripts add "in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that testify on earth"}:

1 John 5:8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.

“If God cannot lie then His Spirit must be the truth!” If all men are liars then the spirit of their flesh must also lie”

1 John 5:6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

In other words, the truth of Christ life in him exposed the lies of the fleshly spirit of these teacher that had covered up the the truth of God that all flesh lies. Not only does it lie, but it practices lying by deception in using scriptures. Whatever, a corrupted tree eats (fleshly thoughts) from below ( from each other teachings) it will not produce good fruit of God's Spirit. Unlike Christ whom is the truth God's chosen good tree that can only produce good fruit of the Holy Spirit. Christ always feed from above from the truth, the Holy Spirit that does not lie, unlike these teachers trying to defend they were good and righteous.

James.3:8 But nobody can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 3:9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the image of God.
3:10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 3:11 Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water?

11.

Matt.7:17 Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. 7:18 A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.

2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore we know no one after the flesh from now on. Even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.

Christ was feed from above by the Holy Spirit these teachers were feed from the written world of God from below from each others thinking, but did it changed them into a good tree like Christ is? No! They overlooked the power of an indestructible life that Christ had dwelling in him, God; they didn't hear that part of Christ words, as is so true of most Christian's today.

Moreover, they overlooked the power of the blood that cleanse them from their sins at God mercy.

Hebrews 9:19 For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people.

Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.

Ever sin must be cleansed by blood they knew that as teachers and priest of God, how could they fool themselves into thinking they were the truth by reading God's word while still needing to go to the temple to have their sins cleansed?

Did Christ need cleansing from sin at God's temple where the Holy Spirit dwelt that cannot lie? No! For Christ is God's reality, he was in God. In Christ by the Holy Spirit, which has no lie in it, so then there was only truth in Christ.
12.
No person can have God's Holy Spirit and say Christ is accursed? How does truth curse truth? So someone was lying, but its was not the truth in Christ!

1 John 2:21 I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

Upholding the truth is upholding Christ, not ourselves, we are not the truth, we cannot take God's word and justify ourselves; do we know why? Because if we are in Christ, we are justified, and the Spirit of God in us is proof we are justified, and “in” the truth, which truth is the Son of God. The Spirit is the truth, our debating God's written words to justify why we are justify in Christ or that by our teaching we are the truth does not prove anything.

Christ is the only truth of God, not us humans, not religions, governments, books, laws, rules, doctrines, or anything under the Sun all things are less than Christ, our truth!

God's love justified us, not our flesh or our works of our flesh, if a person does not have God's love in them (Christ Jesus) then they can't hear us whom have the Spirit of God and our justified from sin because we have Christ living in us.

1 John 4:6 We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn't listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

James 4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask.

Ephesians 2:3 among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

13.
Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.

They have to love the truth and search for the truth of God in Christ; coming to understand that Christ is the only truth given to mankind by God whom is not far off from anyone of us. It is in that love of truth the Spirit of God gives us the free gift of knowledge of his Son, for God is love, and so must his Spirit be love. In that love we can teach and encourage one another to stay in God's love, which is Christ Jesus our truth. In that, and only in that we worship in Spirit and truth.

Romans 2:20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.

2 Corinthians 4:2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

2 Corinthians 6:7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left.

2 Corinthians 13:8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

Ephesians 4:21 if indeed you heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:

James 1:18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

14.

1 John 4:6 We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn't listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Christ came as God's living truth, that is, God's living love for those that love him. Christ would soon fulfill the law for sins of the flesh in God's love for God was in him, and God is love; the law condemning all of us in our flesh as sinners. Not the truth of God like Christ is, who was in God, who is love and in God's love we have no condemnation, Christ fulifilled the written law.

Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

Romans 3:20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

Romans 4:15 For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

Romans 5:20 The law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly;

Christ would complete what was spoken through the prophets where he would take the sins of our flesh killing them once for all times so each child of could be filled with the love of God, being richly blessed in God's own love by the promised Spirit of God. (Richly blessed mean being in Christ God's love); Christ poured out richly into our hearts is the uniting oneness of his one body, one Spirit, one faith, one truth.

15.
John. 17:21 that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me.

Titus 3:6 whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

2 Peter 1:11 For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.

Now we have a new living way, a new way to know the truth from the Spirit that will correct us, teach us, and comfort us if we have faith in the Son of God, as our living hope, God's truth too us? But without love we have profited nothing certainly not in a vast knowledge of God's words, scriptures, nor by self-flattery, or justification human give us because of our vast knowledge.

1Cor.13:1 If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don't have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.
13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don't have love, I am nothing. 13:3 If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don't have love, it profits me nothing.

1Cor. 4:1 So let a man think of us as Christ's servants, and stewards of God's mysteries.
4:2 Here, moreover, it is required of stewards, that they be found faithful.

16.
4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment. Yes, I don't judge my own self.
4:4 For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord.
.
1 Corinthians 1:5 that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

May the love of God fill your hearts, Amen!

Caveat: When we search the bible for the love of God it is a good thing. It is the foundation stones leading us to Christ. That search has to be from a heart that listen not teaches what they believe is truth. It is then up to God's power through Christ and the Holy Spirit he is entrusted with to give us the real truth of the Spirit if indeed God permits?

Heb.6:1 Therefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on to perfection--not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God,
6:2 of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
6:3 This will we do, if God permits.
