Rom.11:8 According as it is written, "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day."{Deuteronomy 29:4; Isaiah 29:10}
Do you think God deceived Israel? Now think about that shocking statement for a moment? What would that mean? After God spent life and precious blood trying to save Israel for thousand's of years; He now deceives it? What simple mundane evil the fleshly mind is satisfied with in trying to identify human wickedness as the mind of God, how truly blinded, and lock up is this thinking?
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
God did not deceived Israel, He let them have the desires of their own heart in deceiving themselves from the truth of God, but how?
God stretched out his hand for thousand's of years before He let Israel go into the way it constantly wanted to go. Christ stated Israel killed all of God's prophets that were sent to them, in trying God to turn them back from the errors of their ways. Lastly, they killed the Christ, and continued to kill God's anointed of the Christ until the Roman empire destroyed their nation in 70CE.
Rom.11:23 They also (Israel), if they don't continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
What evil had beset this great nations whom God has chosen for the love of their forefathers? It was an evil so pervasive that it affects every nation on earth today, including Christian's, and what is that? Self-righteousness. Yes! Self-good works by law. There is nothing wrong with doing good works, but when we think we can redeem ourselves by being good according to the law (law of a certain religion and/or the bible ), it becomes a blindness that blinded and entire nation of God's chosen people.
This is the hard truth Paul speak always within his writings about; the law did not declare a person righteous by obeying it, one could not obey it, even if they did not break a commandment, does that shock you?
Sin in and of itself breaks all the commandments, that is why God sent the Christ as sinless human being to redeem us from this curse. Humans with the sin of Adam cannot be declared righteous by God's law or any law in God's eyes, no! Christ would not have had to die for us if that were true. The death of God's own Son, was not in vain, or a perfunctory actions on God's part too make people feel better about God's love, no!
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
1 Peter 1:19 but with precious blood, as of a faultless and pure lamb, the blood of Christ;
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Romans 5:12 Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned.
It was an act of righteous justice on God's part to redeem us by righteous blood, which blood completed the judgment of His perfect laws given to Israel. The law of Moses, which condemned, convicted and punished all of them and us as sinners.
Yes, just an evil thought is a sin, don't be fooled by politically correct religious teachings of sin, like the Jews, whom divided the law into greater and lesser sins, making one sin better or worst than another, no! Look to God for justice, look to the Son of mankind whom revealed the Father too us, he said; without dividing things into legal definition:
if you or me, lust for the opposite sex we sin, sin is lawlessness to God, and lusting for the opposite sex is adultery and/or fornication!
Christ did not say as an attorney's of the bible an excuse for sinning in one heart by self-justification by words that sin is only sin when you acts upon the evil, no!
Sin is in you and me, we are all together born into sin, hence, needing redemption by blood. This is the blinding of Israel today, and this is the blinding of weed Christian's to this day.
Proverbs 5:22 The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.
Which boils down to a simple and profound truth the foundation of Christ Jesus dying for us, we are either under unmerited kindness unearned or we are blinded to trying to be good enough by works of law.
The Jews wanted to look down on others by works of fasting, going to the temple, eating certain food, washing their hands in a certain way. Weed-Christian's want to be declared righteous by meeting the rules of their religions, but true Christian's know they have nothing good dwelling in their sinful flesh and need a redeemer!
Proverbs 29:6 An evil man is snared by his sin, but the righteous can sing and be glad.
Proverbs 29:16 When the wicked increase, sin increases; but the righteous will see their downfall
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Rom. 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.
