1Cor.11:11 Nevertheless, neither is the woman independent of the man, nor the man independent of the woman, in the Lord.
When God created Adam in time God said that its not good for the man to remain alone. He than took from man a rib and created the woman as a helpmate a companion. Woman was created from man, and all men come from a woman in birth. Hence, God meant men and woman to be considered as one from creation beginning. Once Adam and Eve fall into sin, making one out of two has been almost impossible for both. Men have dominated woman as God said they would, and woman have fought against this oppression creating division instead of unity and peace. There is not easy way when it comes to this subject. Thousand's of years later in to our day we find the same types of problems where long term lasting marriage hardly exist, and most children are raised in one parent family.
Gen3:16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. In pain you will bring forth children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you." 3:17 To Adam he said, "Because you have listened to your wife's voice, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground for your sake. In toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 3:18 Thorns also and thistles will it bring forth to you; and you will eat the herb of the field.
However, when Christ started the Christian's congregation as the last Adam, he united men and woman as one in his own spirit body as the head of the congregation. Christ would set the example of loving and cherishing his own body, presenting it to God as unblemished and spotless. Inherited sin divided men and woman and Christ removing our sins by giving us a sinless standing with God through his righteousness would united men and woman as one. Here we find Paul meaning nothing more. Although, because we are still in our flesh and the very flesh we have finds tribulation because of it sin, those walking by spirit and the law of Christ would be given peace as their overseer should the endure in faith.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
There was no quick fix, but the law of love, the same law that unites the body to Christ, the same fruit of Holy Spirit that makes God's love such a wonderful healing to our hearts and souls. But let us remember it was not impossible, and it was not something too difficult for God and Christ if we have faith. Nor should headship be something odd that does not fit, it should be as natural as life, for that is the reason the woman was created from the man's life, it should be a gift to both where God love flourishes in peace.
Eph. 5:24 But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything. 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; 5:26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, 5:27 that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
